Now that I've got your attention, here's the real message. (No, I really hate being rotten, it's just that I'm so good at it.)

It's still too early to get into the holiday swing full force, but just as a quick poll, would anyone be interested in participating in a "Secret Santa" this year?

For those of you who are new to the concept, it works like this: names and addresses are exchanged anonymously, a spending limit is set, and you buy a gift for the person whose name you get, thereby becoming that person's Secret Santa.

The whole anonymous part always breaks down at the end, but that's part of the fun.

Someone needs to be the central person in this project, and that would be me.

Can we see a show of hands who'd be interested?

veg, who's preferred gift would be the thread title.

Maybe....

On another web community, we do this, and have some guidelines. Not rules, but guidelines.

1) No mean spirited "gag" gifts. Yes, some do gag gifts, but only gentle, nice ones.

2) A suggested maximum of 20.00, USD. Of course, some do go over, and many go under, but around 20.00 is a good target figure.

One year, I gave a beautiful little art calendar (Renoir), another year, a 20.00 Target card, and last year, a nice apron with a saying. ("Don't like the food? Have more wine!")

I've recieved---Borders cards, Harry and David fruit, and last year, a very cute teddybear wearing a UMass Amhearst t shirt. Liked them all.

Anyway, this could be fun.

add yet another name to the list Veg

I think this is a cool idea and that it will really help to encourage even more good will in this already wonderful group so you can surely count me in!!!!!!
