Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

More Photos...

This is what I'm calling my "Dishwasher Wall". My brother and I built this in my basement. It will hold 5 front-loading dishwashers on the shelf, and 5 more dishwashers will fit underneath the shelf. We just finished the water, drain and electrical connections tonight (Friday). Presently on the shelf are the first members of the "Wall": KD-11P (1956), KD-12 (1960), and KDS-17 (1973). My 1948 and 1950 Hotpoint Impeller dishwashers will complete the shelf area. Underneath, I'm putting the 1951 and 1956 G.E. Drawer/Pull-out dishwashers and the 1954 Westinghouse Drawer/Pull-out. The James and the G.E. Mobile Maid will also sit under the shelf for the time being.

There's still time to decide to come to Peoria for our Wash Party!

A full month of work finally ends.....

I just finished the final hookups and installations in my new laundry room. My brother and I started the evening of July 1st by building the shelf that would become my "Dishwasher Wall". Over the next couple of weeks, he ran all of my new copper pipe for the Washing Machines & Dishwashers, and he ran much of the PVC Drain Pipe. I did much of the air-testing and repairs of the water system; completed the PVC drain; and wired all of the new electrical outlets. My brother came back and helped with the gas line installation for the two dryers, and he drilled the two new holes through the wall for the dryer vents. I worked all day Saturday, August 1st, piping the two dryer vents, relocating my Maytag Neptune set from another location in the basement, and testing every washing machine and dryer in this first picture (except the Pink Maytag P124). The Red 1-18 can't be seen in this photo.

My goal was to have this all complete prior to the upcoming Wash Party.

Mike, it sure looks like you have made great use of your space. I know that you guys are going to have so much fun next weekend. I just wish Illinois was closer to Florida!!LOL

Wow - fantastic collection

Awwwww.....wish I could have attended! Maybe next time.
Quite the collection to see. That Dexter Twin-tub wringer washer, and the Easy SpinDrier are fantastic! The Easy is definitely on my "wish list".

Regards to all...Brad

We had a really enjoyable time this weekend.

First, thanks to Todd from Bettendorf, Iowa (varicyclevoice) who arrived just before noon on Friday. He helped me finish the drain hook-up for the 1951 G.E. Undercounter Drawer Dishwasher, and with some other last minute connection issues. We also were able to run some preliminary test on the KitchenAid dishwashers to make sure they were running okay.

Next, Gary (gmpayne) from Indianapolis and Jeff (jeb) from Mansfield, Ohio arrived in the late afternoon, followed shortly by Gary (abcomatic) from Bradford, IL and his friend Darren from Tulsa, OK - who is a "Maytag Repair Man", arrived shortly after, just as Todd and I were starting to fill the first machine - the 1946 Maytag Square Tub.

I had a bunch of laundry from myself and two other sources that the guys jumped right in and started to play. They filled the Dexter Double-Tub washer and did double rinses of the clothes coming out of the Maytag. They then filled the Eash Washer/Spinner machine and did some laundry in that machine.

Meanwhile, I went to pick Paul (turquoisedude) from Montreal up at the bus station, and a local friend of mine, Russ, arrived as well.

They really had a lot of fun running these three machines.

The eight of us had a simple meal - see photo.

Left Photo: Left to right: Russ, Todd, Paul, Jeff, Gary P, Gary B, Darren; Right Photo: Me with the 1949 G.E. Electric Sink in the background over my right sholder.

After dinner we loaded the 1949 G.E. Electric Sink/Dishwasher - it was really full with 8-place settings. Before running it, I got out the motor/timer menechism from one of the other Electric Sinks and explained all about the operation process. These machines were really mechanical in operation. Finally we ran the dishwasher twice.

It was just a real thrill to host my first Wash Party and hope of host a few more. In all, over the weekend, we ran 11 dishwashers, 8 washing machines and two dryers.

It was a blast!

This was my first wash-in and I had the time of my life!
Mike, thank you so much for your hospitality and opening your home to us. Your collection is outstanding and it was a treat to get to see it up close and in person!!
I may just have to borrow the idea of having the dishwashers on a shelf as you have!!

I knew that you guys would have a great time and it sure looks like you did!!! I too wish that I could have been there!!

Mike what an outstanding job on your Dishwashers!
Beautiful washers. Never seen a wall of dishwashers before and I hope to someday.
You guys must had a good time.

I'm ashamed to say.....

that I didn't take even one photo of the group having fun with my washing machines on Friday.

Here are 4 photos that Paul took when we were at Gary's home on Saturday. There were 9 of us at his home, and we had an equally fun time.

Clockwise starting from Top Left: Gary B. and his friend, Randy, with Gary P. and Jeff mostly out of the photo - running the mid-1950's Eash Washer/Spinner; Jeff also watching the Easy; Gary P., Darren and Jeff filling Gary B's new Speed Queen; Gary B standing next to his ABC Dryer.

Darren tooks lots of video so perhaps we can get some "stills" from his footage.

More Photos of Mikes collection.

Two shots of the permanant installaion of the Electric Sinks (1948 G.E. from Michael P's collection) and (1950 Homart from Mass.)

The complete motor and "timer" mechanism, temporarily removed from the 1948 G.E. Electric Sink, that I used to demonstrate the dishwasher's operation process.

The completed Dishwasher Wall.
