GE AW-6
Thanks for all the nice comments everyone, I will eventually do some laundry in it but I am currently heavily involved in remodeling the warehouse and museum space, so even with all these cool new finds I have no time to play.
Jon, this GE has the later cast Iron wash basket, it is over 1/2" thick and beautifully machined and coated with porcelain on both sides.
Mark This AW-6 is the basic model, the earlier and original model that Robert has actually has two timers and two electric water pumps a self-cleaning lint filter and the ability not only to pre-soak the laundry and then dispense the main wash detergent and go into the full wash cycle and then save the warm rinse water in the machine for use in the next load of laundry either for pre-soaking or for a main warm wash. My brother Jeff and I rescued the washer Robert now has over 35 years ago and it is about the only one anyone has ever found. It is amazing to me that the original is so rare, although when CRs tested it in 1948 they said it was the best AW yet but expensive at $400. I guess that the price was the main reason that it did not sell well. Interestingly the lady that gave it to us over 35 years ago said her husband bought it for her because he felt guilty because he had just bought a television set for him self LOL.
Thank Goodness that straight men feel guilty some times or Robert might not have this cool washer today, I wounder why he really felt so guilty, LOL.
