Another GE Triton XL

I just moved into a new townhouse this past week. And I was quite happy (relieved) to see that it came with a nifty GE Triton XL series dishwasher.
This particular one is a GSD6100K.
It is pretty much identical to the 6660 that my parents have in every way except that the 6100 has a few less options.

So I figured I'd share some photos. I tried watching the wash action with a saran wrapped front, but unlike my last Frigidaire, the wash action is just too powerful for that. The saran wrap was blown off the front pretty quick.

All in all, I think these are my favorite modern dishwashers. They clean very well in reasonable time (2hrs or less), are durable and still have powerful spray!

here's my load from the weekend. it's a partial load, run on Normal with Xtra Hot Wash option. Used a Cascade dual action tab. The dynamic "CleanSensor" Normal cycle ran about 1 hour with 1 main wash and 3 post rinses.
1.2 gallons per fill, weighing in at 4.8 gallons, getting all these dishes clean in just an hour.
No Frigidaire or Samsung will do that with such speed.

GE Tall Tub

I love my 7700 - you have a very simular machine. Except mine has 3 silverware baskets and a metal screen on the bottom. And I have the digital display. Seems less and less dishwashers are showing progress in the cycle.

Nice thing is that, even when you fill that machine up with dirty dishes, it will still clean the same, in about the same amount of time. If you select Normal without any options, it will add the XTRA Hot Wash if the dishes need it. Without that, it takes about 45 minutes for a load. Pretty cool dishwasher.

Mutiwattage heating element

I have the PDW7300 from GE, and many people don't know the heating element is muti-wattage, meaning it runs on high to heat the water, and low to dry, thereby eliminating warpage/melting of plastic items washed even in the bottom rack. So yes, your salad maker will be safe in this machine. Whatever machine you buy, make sure it has nylon coated racks, so your machine will still look good 5 years from now. I've had my machine 7 years now with no problems and it still looks like new inside, and it has the Permatuf tub. I see nothing wrong with those tubs, they are great.

this 6100K has vinyl racks, i can tell. and they're startin' rust in tiny spots.

the multi-wattage heater is great. it's the beefiest one i've seen out there on a major dishwasher brand. i love these machines so much.
the only thing that irks me is the hard food disposer is shielded from coarse soil by a sump screen. so the disposer is almost pointless....

other than that, they're wonderful. and the sensor is so smart.
it fills with only 1.2 gallons at a time and is still able to pump at pretty high pressure with a 1/8th HP motor. If maytag and GE can still have powerful machines with little water, and run all wash arms at the same time, why can't Whirlpool do it? All I hear is how weak their pressure is....

They are wonderful machines, powerful, quiet, reliable, attractive and well built. Mine has the nylon racks, and they still look new after 4 years.
