Here is a metal(aluminum) cup which measures 8" from end to end and 1.25" wide. The handle is plastic and the two bottom buttons/feet are magnetic.

Can you guess what it is sold for/as?

Good luck!!

An

electrically heated butter melter/sauce boat?

I used to entertain more than I currently do, and I often wished for a sauce boat that kept its contents warm.

Perc, what could of been.

Thats what should of come with the Geo. Foreman grill, instead of that flimsy POS. you get. My real guess is it something to do with catching defrost water from those old time little freezer sections in old refrigerators. hmmm but the magnets. I give up. alr2903

I'm joining the ranks of the Butter Melter crowd. The size and shape certainly lend itself to that task.

I'm thinking the magnetic buttons would stick it to the griddle while you're making the pancakes.

Still, doesn't heat destroy magnets? And weren't most griddles aluminum?

Please, another hint

8 inches and only 1.25 wide? Long and SKINNY corn if you ask me.

I don't buy the premise of it being a corn on the cob dish. What use would the magnets be used for, unless you're going down the road in RV, cooking? (I've seen it happen)

Nah, it's something more.

Is it something to catch "drippin's"

PS: *slaps to toggles*

Oh Carol!

You know that "catching drippin's" thing could go down into the gutter here real quick.

But, it's a kitchen appliance, not a medical device, so I'll keep it clean and guess it probably melts and dispenses butter, or gravy. Maybe the magnets are to hold it on the stove while it's melting something?

Sorry that I'm not replying on a regular basis. I'm fighting a flu that has gone to a bad case of bronchitis (2nd time in 2 months. YUCK) and I find myself sleeping when I can.

Bobby, you're killing me!!!

Several of you have figured out its function but can you be more specific? It was sold as an accessory to a specific item though it cojuld be used with others!

I will try to post a pic tonight.

accessory to a specific item

is it something that goes with that hot dog contraption...what was that, a wiener heater?

Can't remember who posted that pic, before the NE wash-in.

It has nothing to do with a:

popcorn popper

Salton Hotray

seafood steamer

toaster oven

mashed potato maker or a wiener cooker/heater. Though these are all inventive suggestions!

Veg has come the closest!

Have fun :-)

If it comes with a small brush, then could it be a marinade dish for meats? I can see where this would come in particularly handy...

It's A FERRET BATHER!!!

OK?? Our 3 ferrets would have this destroyed in two seconds if I tried any of that nonsense with them. As usual, I would be wearing the cup, brush and water just like any other time I give them a bath :-)

Butter Melter!!!

For those of you who guessed butter melter, you are all correct. BUT I was looking for the product that marketed it as well. That was Toastwell, for their toaster line in the 1940's. It fits right down the middle of the two toast slots. The box does show it being used on a waffle iron as well.

I'm not sure how the heat would have affected the magnets. The ones on this cup are strong but I don't think that it was ever used.

So many of you guessed that it was a butter melter...I guess the next one will have to be harder (he-he)
