Hi everyone! Hope you’re all well. Today, I was given a vintage Sanyo mini fridge for the collection. Unlike my Frigidaire Imperial 43, this one is in immaculate condition, most likely due to its former owners only using it in a college dorm, and on holidays for drinks (although not being left outside for the better part of two decades certainly helps too). Aside from the drip tray and ice cube mold, it’s complete. They even still had the owners manual! I’ve already taken the liberty of turning it on, and it works perfectly. I’ve wanted a drink fridge in the garage forever, but haven’t gotten to have one, as space is at a premium. This little gem, however, is perfect for that role. Does anyone on here know how to read a Sanyo date code? It seems like these woodgrain refrigerators were ubiquitous from their introduction in the late 60’s until woodgrain fell out of fashion in the 90’s. Based on what the former owner’s told me, I’m thinking that this one is from the early to mid 1980’s. It’s definitely no newer than 1994, given that it’s an R12 system that was imported from Japan. Does anyone else on here still have one of these gems? If so, please post pictures of it.
Thanks,
