Last week I had seen an ad for an estate sale. Well the place was filled with vintage stuff. In the ad there was a picture of this RCA tv. Well I thought it looked cool, so I figured I'd go to the sale and check it out and see what they want for it. Well they opened up on Friday of last week at 7 am. I arrived there between 7:30 and 7:45. I did a quick walk through the house and I didn't see the tv. So I went up to one of the gentlemen who was working there, and he told me that someone had bought it first thing in the morning. Well I was a bit bummed. He also told me that it worked and that it sold for $65. Then he mentioned that the person who had bought it, had only bought it to use for a prop in a film and that they were going to be done filmning on Sunday. He also said that as far as he knew that the lady who bought it didn't need it after they were done filiming. Well he eneded up calling the lady and mentioned that I was intrested in the tv when she was done with it. She said that she would be happy to sell it to us when she was done with it, and to give her number to me. Well I ended up calling her later that day and found out some more info about the film. Her son who is in college is going to school for Filming, and that he had a job to shoot a music video for some rapper (they told me the name but I can't remember. Some white rapper is all I know), who was in town from L.A. She mentioned that they should be done filming by Sunday and that they would be intrested in selling it when they were complete. Well I went to their house on Monday to take a look at it. When my partner and I got there, we went up and rang the door bell. The son answered and he was SHIRTLESS!!!! And boy did he have a nice build. At first we both forgot what we were there for. LOL. Anyways we looked at the tv and plugged it in and got static(nothing to hook it up to to test a live picture). Well since they paid $65 for it, we made a deal that I would give them $60 for it, they were to deliver it(When we got there we realized the tv wouldn't fit in the station wagon standing up and we weren't about to lay it on its front.) and that if he ever needed to use any other tvs for props in the future that they could either borrow this one or one of others in the collection. Well they ended up delivering it the next day, and here it is sitting in our living room. Need to go get a cord so we can hook it up to the dvd/vcr. Anyways I was pretty happy with how it came out. Now if I could only get the son to stay and remove his shirt again. :)

And no I didn't get any pics of him. Damn

Wow, Justin!! That is a beautfiful TV. What I wouldn't give to have a roundie like that.

Did you ask the son if he would deliver it personally? You should have told him you would make it worth his while...

Round jug sets were tubed.Never saw one with a solid state chassis. The solid state designs came out with the rectangular screen tubes. That set is in beautiful condition. Most I have seen the bonding in the tubes screen is yellowing from age.

RCA Roundtube

What a beautiful RCA roundtube!I have a lifelong love of console tvs and I have a small collection of my own. That one is between a 63 and 65 model. That set had tubes, lots of them. That set is all I ever wanted my entire childhood. The grandmother of a girl my mother looked after had that set and when we would bring her home I would love to see it.That set had tubes, lots of them.
