Another vacuum pot on the way!

Hello, friends...this item will be here soon. I'm not sure, but it looks like I might need the rubber seal that goes in between the top and bottom part. I don't know as of yet but but I will see when it arrives. Does anyone know of any good resources for parts in case I need that seal?

Had exact same pot NIB

Used it a few times then broke bottom pot during washing up. Still have the handle and top bits around somewhere.

Cannot recall if kept that small electric stove or sold it on. Have another but it is made for the larger Silex pots.

Shouldn't need a new seal, least mine didn't and was of same vintage.

Only thing about these pots is the lower chamber is difficult to clean. You'll need some sort of slim bottle washer to get inside for a good scrubbing.

on another vac pot acquisition! I hate to be the bearer of bad news though. I believe the upper bowl that you posted photos of belongs to a newer Silex vac pot, not the narrow neck lower pot that you also posted photos of. Also, this upper bowl is missing the gasket as you thought already. To use the lower pot you will also need to have a matching narrow neck upper bowl with a gasket. I believe that the narrow neck Silex vac pots were discontinued sometime post WWII, when they introduced the wide mouth models.

The heat of burner can be controlled with a high and low setting if you can find an Anyheet control cord. The Anyheet cord has a dial on the end that plugs into the burner allowing the user to start on high, then switch to low to keep the coffee hot.

You did however also get a lifetime supply of glass rods! You can use they in all your other vac pots. The rods with the spring at the end are Silex rods. I personally don’t like the Silex rods as well as the Cory rods, due to the shape of the Silex rod portion that sits in the upper bowl opening. I think they allow more grounds to escape into the finished brew.

Truth to tell given the fragile nature of glass it wasn't uncommon to have miss matched vac pot sets. Test yours to see if top and bottom globes make a good seal, that is really all that matters in long run.

The handles made for easier separating of globes after coffee was brewed. Sensible since you're dealing with hot glass, and sometimes things don't come apart easily as they should.

Photos #2 and 7 show that the glass ridge that the gasket would fit onto is wider than the opening to the narrow neck pot. I doubt that there will be any way to make a good seal with this set up, even if it did have the gasket.

Launderess did mention that she may have the upper bowl still to the set she owns. Perhaps she may be willing to part with the upper bowl and sell it to you. You also may be able to make this upper bowl work if you can locate the right gasket for the narrow neck lower pot, but this may raise the tube too high and leave too much water in the lower bowl after the rise to the upper bowl has occurred, making the finished coffee too weak. But if there’s a will there’s away to make this pot work.
