My Grandmothers stove!

This is the exact stove my grandmother had in her house!

The controls for the oven are hidden behind the door left of the oven, below the left burner controls!

I love all that space in the middle of the burners, if I had the money and there was enough room in my kitchen, I would probably get it.

Some of the higher end models had a compartment in which you could put crackers, cookies etc. It came with a bag filled with silica which would absorb the moisture. When the bag turned pink, you put it in the oven at a certain temp. until it turned blue again, thus letting you know it was dried out. Some models also had a foot pedal that opened either the broiler drawer and/or oven door, I can't remember exactly which right now. And don't forget the Tappan Doughboy salt and pepper shakers. And last but not least the burner covers that doubled as serving trays.

My mother has the same stove

My mother has the same model pictured. My recently deceased aunt had a more deluxe model with the foot petal activated broiler drawer and the salt (yellow) & pepper (blue) shakers, and an appliance electrical outlet. Both have oven lights. Nice timer also included in the clock face.

Rachael Ray's Stove

I love Rachael Ray's yellow stove. According to Wikipedia it's a Chambers Model 61C. If I ever get remodel my kitchen I want one just like it.

I have the electric version of that stove (it's the deluxe '48)- absolutely love it, although the crisper thing is used for only non food items. Had the clock rebuilt, replaced all 10 light bulbs (there's 5 of them in the back alone to light up the "Tappan Deluxe"), oiled the timer spring & bell, replaced one oven element and it's the best stove I've ever had. Weighs about as much as a car.....no joke.

I can believe that. They were built a hell of a lot better back then, as compared to todays stuff, and will probably outlast todays stuff as well.

Rachel Rays stove

Jim, there's one about 5 miles from my house for 4450, looks to be in good shape. Saw it on Craigslist last night!!! It's white.

I think I found my dream stove

I would have to take out the kitchen sink and re-enforce the floor, but wouldn't it be fun to cook on.
