Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Maytag "Port-a-Pair"

Their answer to Hoover's twin tub washer and dryer set. They've been around on the group before and a few members even own the set or an individual piece.

IIRC Maytag unlike Hoover didn't do twin tubs for long nor had the same worldwide distribution. Thus spares for the washer and or dryer are hard to find, especially NOS. The spin belt for the washer as one recalls in particular is not easy to find a NOS replacement, so persons have to come up with their own.

Several members do have the washer...

that's Model # A50 for the washer and DE50 for the dryer.

I've used the twin-tube A50 (and would love to have one in my collection). The truth is, however, I don't like the fact that it was not designed to do a continuous spray rinse. So to thoroughly rinse, you must use the wash tub after completing all the loads. Certainly not as efficient or convenient as my Speed Queen or Simplicity SuperTwins!
