Heres my new toy which Paul gave to me.

Bosch Tassimo in red.

Couldnt of been a much better xmas gift either, perhaps I may be able to get Paul (who dosnt drink tea or coffee) to make me the odd weekend cuppa although bringing it to me in bed may be a wish too much.

Decided I wanted one of these pod systems as im sick of making a full cafetiere for one cup or two and my old espresso machine was on its last legs, never seemed to make a decent coffee anyway.

Instant is fine by me but gets boring after a while and I have noticed lots of inconsistancy lately between my usual brands.

The Tassimo has been faultless so far and ive enjoyed every cup.

Oh wow! Tassimo! They're great! hope you had a great christmas rob & paul!

Mmmm if this is okay, i didn't get something appliancy...but...i got something appliance related! My mother in-law thought it would be quirky to buy me some washballs as a jokey gift! I thought it was funny. Haven't decided weather i'm going to use them or not. They have these pelets in with some chemical make up. Not sure if i can bring myself to use them though!

Hope everyones enjoyin the christmas period!

hehe nice one Rob
I bought the household a Tefal QuickCup for xmas.
I will get photos at some point but u can find them on the net easy enough.
Basically its about the same size as ur new toy although i think it has a bigger tank. You put cold water in and press the button and hey presto, 3 seconds later u have boiling hot water, takes a bit of time to fill the cup but saves a hell of a lot of energy than boiling and reboiling a kettle full of water for one cup.
Quite a nifty little thing, makes ummm intresting noises.

Very nice appliances, guys! Hope you're getting a lot of enjoyment from using them.

I'm waiting for delivery of a Technivorm coffee maker. I think it's made in the Netherlands. It should have arrived by Christmas, but a back-order and bad weather in Portland, OR, have delayed it. I'll hopefully have it sometime next week.

Nothing appliancy for me at Christmas :(

I have a Melitta pod coffee maker but they don't make the pods anymore or at least I cannot find any in all of the supermarkets here in Ontario or the ones in Michigan either so it's no good to me anymore.. Kind of pisses me off that, it's not even that old, just a couple of years, you buy the machine then you can't get the pods. It's why I"m not jumping at getting a Tassimo yet.

Eugene,

Yes, Technivorm is Dutch. They make the Moccamaster coffeemakers since 1964. I have an older one myself, I love those machines. Unfortunately in the Netherlands they are only sold through Douwe Egberts and they are very expensive here. What model are you getting?

Pete,

Is the Melitta a Senseo coffee pod machine?

Louis---This is the Technivorm Moccamaster I have on order. They are supposed to be the best coffee maker on the planet. It was expensive ($265), but it's my appliance purchase for the year. It has a better heating element than most coffee makers we have in the US; it has 1400 watts compared to 900 in most US machines. This allows it to brew a full pot in the ideal time of six minutes, at the proper temp. Most US coffee makers don't reach optimum brewing temp until near the end of the brewing cycle. All of this information came from tests done by Cooks Illustrated magazine, whose tests I trust.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it! I've made coffee with a DeLonghi espresso machine for several years; now I'd like to have a simpler, less time-consuming process but still have an excellent cup of coffee.

Appliances...

Our Hoover fridge-freezer broke down, which 'His Nibs' never cared for at all (I often wonder if he deliberately sabotaged it... LOL!).

So we decided to go for separates appliances:

Bosch upright larder fridge, Whirlpool chest freezer, and we needed a decent kettle.

First, the fridge:

Finally the kettle; which coincidentally my brother and his wife also bought, and a few of their friends also purchased for themselves. Seems to be a popular model, and quite stylish too.

Oh, nearly forgot...

I got this for myself (with an early Christmas advance from parents) a couple of months ago, but kept it sealed until Christmas day (sad or what? Ha ha!).
