The gas range you showed was the exact same one I grew up with I HATED IT!!!My bathrobe caught on fire from the front right burner perking up coffee in a Pyrex percolator,my eyebrows burned off from trying to light the pilot less, match lit oven, the burner controls were hard to turn especially the front two and big pots didn't fit well when you were cooking more than one item.Ours was a 36 inch.I would have used meratic acid and run for a few hours then pressure hose it off.I clean out washers with that works great but very dangerous! We replaced it in 1972 with a Montgomery Ward(Tappan) continuous cleaning 30 inch gas range. My step mom wasn't as appliance literate as I and went to use Easy-Off oven cleaner. I stopped her just in time showing her the use and care guide I SAVED from the trash which ,in clear, bold letters said "Do not use any type of oven cleaner aerosol or liquid! This will void the warranty and can cause fumes to be released which can become fatal. Use only a mild dish detergent to remove any cooked on/burned on remains."Nonetheless, her reaction was one of anger and disapointment which drove her to call me to go get a nicer range. I still hate gas ranges and at that time was not fond of them either but,we went and got a nice 30 inch GE gas range with a self cleaning oven and it is still in the house where I grew up.

Gas stove Bath

Try using auto engine cleaner, there is one that comes in a regular spray bottle, try pepboys or advance parts stores. For me they work great and then rinse everthing with a sponge and a warm bucket of water. Then paste wax the finish, should do the job. Good luck Bobby

Ultimate Gas Stove Cleansing

Take:

10 lbs charcoal brickettes
1 pint lighter fluid
1 disposable lighter

Tastefully arrange brickettes around the burners and in a ruffled motif around the control panel.

Generously dredge the brickettes with lighter fluid.

Apply sufficient force to lighter thumbwheel to cause an spontaneous ignition of the butane fuel. Gently apply flame to each corner of the brickette arrangement. Then lock the lighter into the on position (use a mint flavoured toothpick) and prop it up in the middle of the arrangement.

For extra effect, put another pint of lighter fluid in the oven, in the can, sealed tight.

Evacuate the area for nine square blocks.

Enjoy.

rickr: if you keep finding guns you might recoup your cost:-, on the News tonight they mentioned firearms are selling well. You may have unearthed some collectors items. The Frigidaire Range is so nice, looks new. alr2903
