Is there anyone living in New Jersey area? I need to ask a huge favor...there is a Hobart UM-4 dishwasher available in NJ and I want to have it ship to me here in Canada. I realize this will cost me a fair amount of money - I will need someone to package the unit for me (removing the cast iron spray arm and rack..etc)

Please email me at [email protected] if you can help here.

Thank you

Cheers,

Bob

What kind of Shape is it in ?

Hi Bob...
The UM-4 has a cast iron drain valve and they're pretty scarce. I had to replace mine on my KD2-P. stevet got me one of the last 2 brand new ones from Hobart for the tune of well over $200. I would hate to see you get that machine all the way out there and be disappointed

Hi there,

The dishwasher is located in Medford NJ...anyone close by?

I am considering flying there later this fall and figure a way to ship it...would be nice to connect with some of the AW fellows and give me a hand to dismantle the dishwasher...

take it easy..

The UM 4 is not the same height as a standard dishwasher. Without the extra brackets on the frame, it would be about 6-8 inches lower than standard. Also, if you dismantle it, the mounting brackets may break off and then you will be in trouble as they were not stainless like the tank.
If you can manage it and have a car with a decent sized trunk or hatchback or pickup, you can probably drive down and get it. Give that some thought but either way, the unit will fit on a small skid and I am sure there will be a crating company that can handle it. Maybe even UPS or FedEx freight can take it.
They do handle over sized or over standard weight items as common carriers.

As far as spare parts go, you are taking on a totally obsolete machine at this point. Just about everything for it is gone now.
Any parts from the 11 thru 14 series will work like the motor, seal, washarm and the door interlock switch and actuator.
Timers and drain valves are long gone. But again your domestic spares if they are in good shape will carry you thru.
What a pleasure to use a machine with a 3 minute cycle!

And remember..The UM4 was strictly GRAVITY drain. So make sure you can work with that. And if you are mounting it under a standard ht counter, you may need to build a base for it or use long bolts to raise it up. See if you can get a picture of it and send it to me or post it here and I can tell what it came set up as.

Thank you Steve!

The owner is on vacation and hoping to find a way to get the whole unit shipped to Canada.

There is a conference in October I like to attend in Philadelphia and wondering how far Philadelphia is from Medford NJ?

Cheers,

Bob
