Im in need of a new serger and I want something quality so that Im not replacing it every few years. I went to a local sewing shop and found a few that I really liked, the Baby Lock brand, but I almost choked when the sales lady told me the prices. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? If so, are they really worth the price? I've read reviews but most people just praise the air threading and the fact that one doesn't have to adjust tension for different fabrics which is pretty great. I want to know if overall they are really worth it. Thanks!

The Babylock is hands down the best serger I've ever used. I started with the 4 thread Imagine and a few years later upgraded to the Evolution for its coverstitch features. I have never had any tensions issues with these machines. And are very easy to thread. When I got the Evolution, my first time threading I put thick decorative thread in the chainstitch looper and had perfect results.
If you want a good basic serger, look at the Imagine. The Enlighten doesn't give you much in step up features other than bright LED lighting. If you want coverstitch, etc, look at the Evolution. I love, love, love mine. The Ovation is the new TOL with a wider space to the right of the needle and a knee lift but at a very high price?

I actually bought an Elna on ebay that was used back a couple of years ago. It has worked very nicely for me and I've never had a problem with it so far. Certainly worth my $40 investment.
