Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Sounds like a bunch of hogwash. The website with the part
says it is in stock and 80% of orders arrive withing 2 business
days, with rush delivery available. Your unit should have been
repaired and working by now (or at least tomorrow - I can be
easy sometimes too.)

Update

Home Sheld decided last Thursday that the they couldn't find the part and they would replace the unit. They told me it would ship Friday and be installed Monday.

Monday, I was told that it was being shipped that day and would be here Tuesday. I spent the day in the ER with an anxiety attack that everyone thought was a heart attack.

Tuesday, was told unit would arrive around noon. I blew a gasket when they said it would be Wednesday before it could be installed.

Wednesday, New unit installed and working. I got to sleep in my bed, yeah! AHS left a message on my machine wanting to make nice and talk about renewing my contract. It expired last Friday.

I contacted 1st American Home Warrenty and they gave a good pitch. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to renew with AHS or go with them. We are in the middle of severe financial problems, so I do not want to be without some kind of coverage. This year, AHS, has replaced my bathroom exhaust fan, dishwasher, and water heater, this has been the first problem. Has anyone used 1st American?

Not being able to find the part sounds suspicious, but...

Are they replacing it with exactly the same unit or a new model
or different brand...? (If the same unit, what happens when
the control board goes out next time if they can't "find" the
part now?)

Might not hurt to do some investigation. One can hope AHS
thinks the Payne will be less trouble (and end up costing
them less if you remain a customer of theirs.)

Payne

Payne was part of Carrier along with Bryant and Day and Night. They split off in 1997. I thought they were still part of Carrier.

Payne is an ok potato...
The best hvac manufacturers in my book in order
Trane/American Standard
Rheem/Ruud
Bryant
Carrier/Payne

Heil (i call em Hell), Amana, York, Goodman, Tempstar, and Coleman Evcon are crap ola..

In all honesty, i would stick with Rheem/Ruud.. They have been around for many many years and are very proven with there technologys. Also they service alot of difrrent sectors (conventional construction, manufactured housing and commercial and some industrial).. Trane does as well, but 9 times out of 10 they are very expensve and American Standard dealers are hard to come by...

Bryant is another company i like and they seem to make some decent gas furnaces.. But they are not out there as much as most major companys..

Interesting side note, my downstairs has an electric air conditioner/furnace. The furnace is a Singer. Original 1968 to the house.

RE AC I feel for you

My Ac unit started to loose its cold and I called American home shield and they have been out three times and next time will be four.
the first call he put in 2lbs of gas and cleaned the drain line! two days later I have water all over the platform the unit sits on. called again and they come out and tell me the drain is clogged clean it again and leave. three days later the water was worse and the unit can not cool the house right ! very wet and warm in the house not able to get the temp below 80 and its 109 and 38% humidity. condensate is now running down garage floor and out the door. third call he finds that a place lost some seal and used some foil tape and checked the drain again said you are all set!!!! well now the unit is short cycling!! water has now found a new place to come out of and its dripping out the bottom of the furnace and runing the dry wall and running out the door again.!!!!pan has a hole in it!!!
this morrning I was kept on hold for 35 minutes before I got a person and I was not in the mood for this to day!! it took one hour to get it all done. they are going to replace in side A frain and outsideunit. in the mean time all that condensate has been dripping in side of the heater and all over the burners wires excet. I told them that. was put on hold again for 10 mimutes comes back and tells me that the furnace it self is not covered because of second dary damage and I will have to come up with the price of the furnace!!!! ($ 2,500.)
I have never hurd such a crock in all my life!!!
If they had sent out some one who knew what it was the first time I would not have to go through all this crap and it would not have done all this damage!!!
it just goes to show just how stupid they are! It burns my butt that I have to pay for their mistake and stupidty. It amazes me they can still hold their jobs!!!!
I am not done with this yet. I will find a way to make them pay
for their secew up! this has all been since the 12 of july!!
