In some locales, at least in my North Central part of
California, organized efforts on behalf of low income
individuals or families or Seniors or people with disabilities, are undertaken by the "haves" ; individuals
or organizations, at this time of year. These efforts can be,
but are not limited to, assistance with property maintenence,
paint,repair etc., in some cases even "house raising". Also
acquistion of more costly necessities, appliances and the like. These are done in the spirit of Goodwill for those in need. I think referring to the effort as "Christmas in July"
is intended to help us all be mindful that the need for
generosity to each other is not limited to any special time or circumstance.
