We are buying a house from family, and all the appliances are included... the Stove, refrigerator , dishwasher, washer and dryer, and being that the house has a completely finished basement, it has a stove, washer, and dryer downstairs. I don't know a lot about how good the appliances are, but the ones upstairs work well except for the oven which seems to get way too hot. The appliances are, (upstairs) early 90's? Whirlpool electric stove, 90's Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher, early 90's? Whirlpool fridge, late 90's-early 2000's Maytag Performa washer and (gas) dryer. (Downstairs) late 80's Speed Queen washer and (gas) dryer and 90's Maytag (gas) stove. I don't have pics or know the working condition of the ones downstairs, but I do know that one burner doesn't work and the oven won't light on the stove. I have noticed that the dishwasher cleans really well. The upstairs dryer seems pretty slow and the vent is clean. Pics to follow...

How would I reverse the main front panel on the dishwasher? I know the bottom panel is reversible to almond (which would match the stove and fridge)

Tower of Power???

Where is it? There should be a tower coming up the center of the lower rack to supply water to the wash arm under the top rack. Without it, you will not get the top rack very clean at all. And of course you can't load anything in the rack that will block the tower. There should be a black rubber bellows type device which secures the lower arm to the washarm support which will seal up under the tower bottom.

That Whirlpool stove upstairs is a keeper.  No electronic timer parts top die.  Self-cleaning oven.  there are adjustment screws behind the temperature adjustment knob on the oven.  With a thermometer you can adjust it so the temepratures are more accurate.  Loaded correctly (which this was NOT) that dishwasher will kick ass-it's a Whirlpool PowerClean based product.  I'm surprised the Maytag Performa laundry pair is still working.  You didn't mention what the dishwaher is downstairs.

The tower and rubber gasket are in the dishwasher, and even loaded that way, it washed wonderfully. Dried on pulled pork from yesterday in the blue pan and crock pot and whatever else on the other dishes and all came out spotless. There is no dishwasher in the basement (yet). (Our other house had a BOL GE). All the appliances in this house have been very lightly used and well taken care of.

To change the panel on the front you should be able to pull on the side strips to pop them loose and find the almond panel.  Those power clean WP's are good ana fast machines.

That Whirlpool Stove

My wife and I have the same Whirlpool stove in our home and I have never had to do any service to it in the 22 years that we have owned it. The stove is durable and super easy to keep clean. We bought it new in 1990 when we bought our home, we deleted the contractor stove and save $300.00 as contractor stove was not a self cleaning model.

We got our Whirlpool for $250.00 from a appliance dealer that was going out of business as it was a floor model, one scratch on the side of the stove and with installed you can not see the side.

kenmore dishwasher

We bought one of those for each my mom and mammaw for mothers day one year. That exact model. Both machines cleaned wonderfully and replaced two d&m kenmores. The only thing we did was run some dishwasher cleaner through periodically. It should last you forever.

Maytag Performa Dryers

This dryer is a Norge design and they are usually slower than other dryers the BTUs are only 16 or 18 thousand and the electrics only have a 4750 watt heater element. This dryer also has a poor airflow design and requires cleaning periodicity of the bottom of the lint filter housing, luckily it is fairly easy to raise the top of the dryer and unscrew the front and remove it to clean this area.

Keep the KM UW DW and the WP range.
