Are Frigidaire "Poppy" colered appliances impossible to find anymore?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Frigidaire had red appliances (similar to Poppy Red, if not the same color, but without the shading, like on the 24" Laundry Centers and GMini washer/dryer sets of the seventies) since the mid-sixties. I have just seen them in ads however.

Here's a 1966 ad showing red kitchen appliances (I'd love to find a set exactly like this!).

And another one from 1966 showing refrigerators, red is described as "Matador Red".

I can only remember one person that ever had the Poppy color appliances, and that was my friend Glenna D. She moved into a house in the late 70's that had a Frigidaire top-freezer refrigerator included.

In 1977 I worked in a hardware store that sold Frigidaire, and none of the display models were in Poppy, nor any of the warehouse stock. If anyone wanted something in that color, it had to be ordered from the distribution center.

In the Frigidaire ad above, I see they were calling Avocado "Tahitian Green". I think that's a much more pleasant name for the shade.

John, do you know when Harvest Gold was changed to a non-shaded color? My 1-18 set is from April/May 1977 and they still have the shading.
