I am thinking easier to clean than the reg old coil.....
what yall think?
cause I dont want the digital crap that goes bad.....
anyone? I missed out on the Signature corning top up in FT wayne Indiana...
anyone on here buy it????
also be nice to be able to raise a top and clean under w spillovers

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. They are an antiquated design from the early decades of the last century when Sweden thought that the open coils wound in fire brick were not safe so they mandated these. They are horrible to keep clean. The shiny ring around them does not stay shiny and the cast iron has to be painted with stove black to stay black. Finally, they are not fun to use either. Stay far away from this bomb.

are you sure? Ill go by there soon

and take a picture. I dont remember any rings
the euro chef had a black door which i dislike otherwise it had nice controls....

Tom is right, these soild disk burner electric stoves are terrible! My Mom had a cooktop with these soild burners, I don't recall the brand, it was some obscure European brand that my stepfather dug up, a real POS. They are slow to heat, slower still to decrease temp when the heat is lowered. And one of the burners on Mom's stovetop developed a crack in the disk and was no longer usable. There was no way that we could figure out to just replace this burner, as they don't just unplug and plug in like a traditional coil top stove. And because my stepfather wouldn't spring for a new cooktop Mom only had 3 burners for the last 20 yrs. of her life. If you want to be sure to have buyers remorse buy this range.

Euro / Solid burners are not horrible...

It's just a personal preference. I'm probably among a minority on this one--I've used them almost exclusively forever. Prefer them over coils, actually. Never have understood the hatred for them…it's just a learning curve you have to take on when getting used to using them.

Heat control is not the same as coils, obviously. My particular range is a Jenn-Air with the Euro/ solid disc burner cartridges which are something like 3000 watt or 3500 watt. PLENTY powerful and they heat up quite quickly. Yes, they are slower to cool down.

For daily use when new to them, it's just a matter of spending time with one and understanding when to make adjustments to heat levels. Also, I've always loved the fact that they are perfectly level / flat and hotspots aren't a problem (but maybe that's my specific model of range top).

If you have an opportunity to try one out before buying--do so! Cleanup-keeping them looking good is not horrible (to me, anyway). My burners are approaching 30 years of age and still look quite newish. If you tend to boil things over or are sloppy with your cooking process then yeah, you'll have some issues. But they clean up easily and you can keep them looking fresh by wiping down with a light coat of veg oil now and then. Once wiped, turn them on full blast until they smoke a bit (burns off excess oil). They'll look just fine.

now i am undecided

i need to take a pic of the one and show yall.. I saw ad on CL a white Jenn air but missed out on that too. I believe it had the solid burners too ..I thought i had saved a pic of it, dang it.

Benefit of an electric Jenn-Air is...

that if you get one, your burner top options are wide open. You can insert solid disc cartridges, coils, or radiant/halogen. If any one of those options doesn't work out for someone, they should go back to cooking over an open fire…hahah!

Not that common here, but have seen a few. Saw a Jenn Air with the insert, and a Whirlpool with them. Also had a two burner cooktop in a motel room that had them. They are no longer sold in the US market for domestic ranges, I don't think. Still see them on commercial ranges and some portable single or two burner hotplates at Sears, Walmart, etc.

The ones I saw tended to get rusty if exposed to moisture. Would be hard to go from boiling to simmering because of the retained heat, they cool slowly.

ah .... I dont think so

Goatfarmer, please
not just cause its avocado.. they can be painted. years ago a mobile place came to my driveway back in former home and sprayed painted my beautiful side by side and I think My Caloric top and bottom range.
I would rather have the white one iN louisville than that one.
