Hear quite allot of talk here about the UK version of Ariel but not so much the German or other European types.

Wasn't Ariel one of the first German brands to have enzymes and advertise it cleaned well at less than boil wash temps?

How different are or were Ariel from Tide (P&G's top brand in North America). By this are we speaking of the same high sudsing, poorly rinsing packed with oxygen bleach formula?

French/German/European Ariel

Im interested in this as well, is the German Ariel formula, the Ariel Essential Formula that we had years ago.

The Uk Ariel has a very strong fragrance, it used to smell pleasant, but is now very heavily perfumed, i cant bear to be in the same room as clothes washed in Ariel.

What does the German Ariel smell like?

has anyone from Europe tried the UK Ariel and How does it differ in dosage in your country, as well as cleaning and scent to your formulation

The Ariel Actilift has reached the German market too. In the Netherlands Ariel Actilift is sold too. Same for Belgium. I don't think there is much difference between the Ariel for the British or the Continental European market. The only difference is that the UK gets the Non-bio version, a version that nowhere else in Europe is sold AFAIK.

I bought a box of German Ariel (the industrial sized box) from Amazon.com about a year or so ago. It smelled just like the UK Ariel I have used in the past, and it cleaned and whitened really well. I was very pleased with the results and loved the smell. It gave german Persil a run for the money!

No offence, but that's actually pathetic!
If you can still smell detergent on your clothes that much after they've come out of the washing machine, then it's obviously not rinsing very well.

I find the smell of Persil far more overpowering than Ariel, though I do use both regularly. However, I really can't smell the detergent that much on the clothes after they've left the machine and if I can, it's very faint. I think you're being ridiculously over dramatic there.

Chris,

Considering Kyle only uses 1 Aldi tablet I dare say hes tried to get away with a spoonful of Ariel, now to my reckoning that wouldnt leave much smell.

Ariel is very pleasant IMHO and the newish Daz scent is quite nice too. Might treat myself to a box soon.

Rob...

...say no more!

I agree about the new Daz. My Mum recently picked up a big box on offer (as she tends to buy which ever of the decent detergents is on offer at the time) and it's not bad at all and smells lovely.

There has been an increasing tendency of late from some to view other's view of a product not so much as inferior as their's is superior. If someone says they find the scent of a product a bit much, then who is anyone else to contadict that opinion?

Up and down Internet response boards opinions vary as to the various scents of European laundry products. Persil with "Savon de Marseille" is heavenly for some French housewives, others find it reminds them of insect killing spray.

To say one finds the scent of product not up there street is one thing, but "ridiculously over dramatic" seems rather ironic.
