Ariel or Persil

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

One of the reasons I stopped using Ariel (apart from the over powering smell) was the amount of suds it created in our soft Scottish water. Took an age to rinse out and often sent my machine into suds lock. I don't have over sudsing issues with Persil.

I stopped using Ariel for the exact same reasons (the water in our area is borderline soft/medium). The amount of foam Ariel generated was unreal. I've never had any suds issues with Persil and it cleans just as good, if not better.

In Ireland, a lot of urban areas have extremely soft water. Here in Cork City it's almost entirely free of limescale, you get nothing building up in the kettle / coffee machine.

I've found Ariel really high-foaming in our Bosch machine. The same applies to other P&G products like Daz.

Unilever Persil Powder doesn't foam much at all in comparison, regardless of how much you dose it.

I have to say though, I think P&G must have slightly reformulated Ariel in recent months. It seems to smell less overpowering and it's not quite as sudsy as it once was.

I find similar issues with P&G dishwasher tablets, Fairy Platinum. It caused a lot of issues in our Bosch dishwasher by producing so much foam that the machine didn't wash at all. It was just sudslocked.
The only other products that caused that problem were Tesco Naturally tablets.

Unilever Sun Green Power tablets or All-in-One cause no issues, nor do any of the Finish products or any of the major supermarket own brands.

I think perhaps P&G are formulating with the assumption that water is really hard. Perhaps their products work fine in areas that have exceptionally hard water ?
