Using Ariel: The results

I have pitted my Tide versus Ariel and I am satisfied. Both cleaned well, but Ariel removed ground-in dirt around the pant cuffs, something no other has been able to do. Ariel has done well, but I still haven't used the Colour Excel Gel yet. Will do a load of dark colors with it later this week. But so far, i'm impressed.

Water in Colorado varies in both degrees of hardness and type of mineral content.
Water in Pueblo has floride and calcium and quite a bit of other dissolved and suspended stuff.
Water in Fort Collins, depending on the time of year varies in hardness and magnisium content enormously.
Water in Denver is determined by where in the city you are (lots of rusty old iron pipes in some places which complicates matters).

Call your water department and ask them for the situation in your area. If they are clueless (should not be) then go to Home Depot and pick up a water testing kit. They're about $9, tell you not only hardness, but roughly which minerals are involved.
