When Tim(macboy91si) came to get the Apple machines, He mentioned that he had an Ariston washer/dryer combo unit. Since he was willing to sell it to me, I had to jump on it. So my parents ask, was driving 124 miles worth getting this machine? UMMM... Yes, it sure was!!!!! I'll explain why...

Antonio Merloni?

if that ariston is an antonio merloni machine,it is probably
a lot like a splendide combomatic-common for use in RVs,buses,
campers,boats and other vehicles.

Yeah, I too disagreee!
You might see more discarded Indesit/Hotpoint/Ariston/Servis/Ardo/etc machines because both firms combined comprise 1/4 of all the white appliances market in Europe!
But you have to consider that those start from budget to TOL machines also the quality of the wash programs is far above average!
Have you seen many Indesit Moon or Ariston/Hotpoint Extendia or Aqualtis trashed?
You get what you pay for!
And in this case I believe you get more quality than similar priced Asian made machines like Haier or others

I was only commenting on the Aristons, not on the Hotpoint-Aristons as they are marketed here wich actually means that they are sold as Hotpoints. It seems that Ariston machines are not longer sold in the Netherlands. The Hotpoint-Ariston seem of better quality although there were noise issues with some series.

Due to the time I got home, I only had time to make room in the shed to store it, before I ran out of day light. Today, we will see what it is made of, so lets DO IT!

Aww, bless!

That looks so cute and tiny next to that great big US machine in the garage! I had a machine very similar to that in a rental property years ago. Very water efficient and a real workhorse.

The motor is brushed.

I dont know how you came to the conclusion that it is part induction part brushed as I wasnt aware both could be combined??? Maybe im wrong but doubt it. Especially as these were relatively cheap when they were around circa 2000/2001.

As for seeing no heater you actually wont. The heating elements for the dryer are contained in the fan chamber and the water heating elements are hidden away in the actual wash tub.

A friend of mine had one of these machines that cost her £299 from Curry's, it barely lasted her 18 months after having had 2 timer repairs.
There was a common fault on these that meant it would continue to click the dial around even after the wash cycle ended.

drum

the drum is exactly the same as the drum in my splendide as
is the air heater.Other details are different though.
My splendide is antonio merloni from 2002.

What a cute machine, they dont look to be too badly made remarkabley.

Rob, the old Miele's had a combined Brush/Induction motor. It was how they provided multiple speeds without computer control. It has a single shaft with the induction motor at one end and the brush motor at the other. My W423 manages 3 speeds with no clutch and no electronics.
Tumble, 900Rpm and 1100Rpm

Yes, It is a cute machine,BUT there just has to be some part that is of poor quality. The door is plastic, inner is glass, outer window looks to be plastic. The fill valve assembly, poor quality, but I have to say it actually does a decent job washing and drying, granted you don't overload it, and leave enough room in the machine so you can see the back. I've done 3 loads now and it does take 3-5 hours to wash and dry each load, but it works pretty well. The machine is pretty quiet. The other thing is that is uses next to no water. I'm not used to seeing the clothes just wet and tumbling. With that being said, how much soap should I really use if the machine uses hardly no water? I want to try to keep the spider in the best condition possible.

Regarding the motor:
It is either Brush only, or Induction/Brush. The machine has 600/1200 RPM spin speed, so it does need a brush component to spin that fast. The motor is not Inverter Duty, because the control board doe not look like it can support the IGBT's required for the modified sine wave. The machine does have spin bursts, but it also has a few speeds that are slightly faster than the tumble speed. I have not taken the motor out and examined it yet, and I have not taken a close look at the control board either. Oh, and there is a small capacitor that is connected to some of the wires that go to the motor. There are relays that click every time the motor changes direction though. I'm still thinking the motor is Induction/Brush.

That Ariston machine here in Italy would be a 5/3 kg or 6/4 kg wash and dry. Usually when drying a full load after the wash, you simply take half of the clothes and dry half at a time.
As for detergent use, I'd say that you need less than half than a standard topload (anybody confirm?).
With an European detergent the standard dose is anywhere between 100-150 ml of diluite liquids or 25-35 ml of concentrated.
Or 80 g of powder detergent.
