Shortly after moving back and staying at moms I bought her a new Panasonic FlashXpress toaster oven to replace the Philips I'd given her about 12 years ago. It has two different infra red tubes on top (short and long wave) and one on the bottom. Presets for toast, pizza etc and it works extremely well. Well it took a few days of her using it but she's very impressed with it and she's not the kitchen gadgety type at all. It toasts up to 4 slices of bread from a cold start in about 2 minutes, the most evenly toasted bread I've ever seen and way faster than any regular toaster. What she really likes about it is for cooking her frozen fish type meals. No preheating and extremely fast. Seems to have gotten good reviews on all the websites and from CR. I'm thinking of getting one for us. Not cheap though, they're around $100.
