I was just wondering if anyone in our club wanted to post some pictures of their (old)or (newer) cars. I remember wanting to see a picture of someones Packard.

I just thought that this would be a neat way to see what we all have as our daily (DRIVE)-ers, and as a special treat, to see what we have as our weekend cruiser, or better yet our summer cruisers...

Thanks

Chad

P.S. NO this is NOT my Packard. I would crap a brick if it was tho....the last REAL Packard...A 1956 Patrician Sedan....

That is a beautiful Packard! My grandparents used to day that Packards were even more elegant than Cadillac's and Lincolns back in their day! My cars are not quite so vintage. But still fun to drive. This is a picture of my SAAB 900Turbo in my back yard just after a wax job earlier this spring. It's my daily driver. Just an all around good car. It gets about 32 MPG's on the open road, has plent of power ready to go, handles like a go-kart, and of course is totally fun with the top down during the summer!

Okay, so you're probably wondering why I call myself CYBRVANR since I drive a SAAB. Well, here's the van! I've had it since 1994. Well, it looks just like an ordinary Astro van, but it's got a 5-speed transmission in it. The other odd thing is that it is factory-finished inside despite the fact that it is a panel van. The only rear windows are in the sliding door and the rear doors. Hard to see in this picture, but on the rear of the van are painted "printed circuits" on the back doors. This van was owned by a computer shop before I had it, and they had painted their logo, and the circuit boards on the rear doors. I took the logo off, which was a sticker, but left the painted circuit boards on it, hence the name!

Over the years, I've done all sorts of tweaking and customizing to it, from adding Holley Fuel injection, dual exhaust system, a 12 disc CD changer, convertible bed seat in the back, and luminescent wire inside. The van serves my need both as a worker, hauling cool appliance finds and home-improvement materials as well as a playing vehicle for camping out in, towing my boat and when it get the urge to customize something!

You can can't tell, but the van has about 270,000 miles on it, but is in suprisingly good shape. Today, now that I have the SAAB, it doesn't get driving very often. Part of the reason is it's thirsty 16mpg city 22 MPG highway mileage. It does not burn a drop of oil, and the small-bloc 350 pulls just like it was brand new!

Day to day driver

My Cadillac De'Ville Concours. Or as Gregm calls it, Rocco! LOL!!

Alice

She's a 2003 TDI (Diesel engine). Gets 48mpg on the highway. Moving to Massachusetts, I only filled up TWICE the whole trip. Diesel rules! I hope it catches on big in the US.

Pimpin

Nothin like a caddy. Bri's dad has a pimp mobile (Escalade) and it's the lap of luxury. Thermostat controlled AC/Heat for the driver/passenger and back seat. I wish all cars had that. No more fighting over the AC. CD/XM radio/Navigation system.

Wow!

Cool cars!! Can't wait til I start learning to drive!

One question though...

Do cars in the US not have numberplates (license plates) on the front of the cars? Here we have a white one on the front of the car and a yellow one on the back...

Take care all, and great cars!

Jon

LOVE the Packard Patrician!!! I have always had a "soft spot" for those cars; a Packard would be the ONLY 50's car I'd buy!! Steven & Jason, very neat cars as well (gotta love a car that gets 48 MPG without having to use 9" wheels!), and Rick, that Cadillac is PIMP!

Come on Robert, let's see another picture of your new ride!!! ;-)

Hey Jon....

...it depends on the state...I live in Missouri, so we get front and back license plates...other states just use one, but I'm not sure what states.

Take The Key and See........

Heres another beautiful Packard picture from my personal archives. I will get to pic's of my "daily' and "weekend" cars soon. All I own is my 1997 Oldsmobile 88 LSS, and my newest acquistion my 1995 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series.

The reason why Im bring up Packards, is becasue my favorite model years 55th and 56th series Packards will be hitting their 50th birthday's this year.

The actual (official) introductory date for the 55th series Packards and Clippers,(which was the cheaper line) is January 17, 1955. And for the 56th series Packards and Clippers, was November 3rd 1955.

Packard had been thru hell by the time that this car below was on the production lines. The hell that they went thru was things like: Loosing a already small market share to ever effervescent Cadillac, a resurgent Lincoln, and even a newly minted seperate make Imperial. And finally merging with the South Bend folks...Studebaker Corporation...the death knell of Packard.

But these Packards were a proud last hurrah for the Packard Motor Car Company such as it was, boasting their first V-8 engine ever, a newly redesigned Twin-Ultramatic automatic transmission of their OWN manufacture, and a revolutionary
Torsion Level Ride that used a complex system of (Torsion)bars to suspend their two ton rig and make it handle like a sports car.

Anyway, this Packard hails from Michigan....in fact was just sold recently also....

Here in Alberta no front plate and I think Saskatchewan recently did away with them as well. As far as I know all the other provinces have front and back plates.
I must find a pic of my 75 Electra 225 coupe, gone now but not forgotten, I wished I still had it but it was a pig on gas even back then. So comfy. Cobalt blue with a white vinyl top and white bucket interior 6 speaker I think there was Delco 8 track, power seats, windows, locks, air, cruise, cornering lights, front fender check lights, rear mirror view check lights and a nice smooth 455 4bbl, fender skirts and lots and lots of chrome.

Gas hogs of hogs

This one is right up there with the cars that had "drinking problems" A 1976 Eldorodo with a 500 CID fuel injected engine! I kept this car for 19 years, and sold it via ebay in October of 2003.

70's Eldorados

They were real cruisers! I was the second owner of mine also. Bought it in L.A. in 1984 with 47,000 miles. Sold it at 99,000. My family didn't want me to sell it,it was around for so long.

I like the 78's better than the 77's. The 78 grill is nicer. the trim on these cars was nice. Red is the RIGHT color for these models. Both yours and mine just scream: MANIFEST DESTINY!! LOL!!
