ASKO Dishwashers

Hi Guys,
I have just returned from a huge appliance buying spree. We decided to renovate our kitchen and have bought brand new appliances for it. In amongst them we bought a stainless steel ASKO dishwasher. It is a basic model but has what it calls Power Zones which small spary nozzles fixed to the base and top that focus on one area continously. There is one for the cutlery basket and one for the back of the bottom rack where pots and pans would go. We got a good price for the dishwasher so i can't really ask for anyone elses experiences with these machines. Its an excellent quality machine and hope it lasts a long time.
Other kitchen appliacnes we bought was a Bosch cooking package consisting of a wall oven with a gas hob and range hood. Sadly this left little money over for my intended laundry purchase whihc has gone on hold until finances recover. I will be purchasing either the new Bosch Axxis 9kg washer or an Asko (so that we match).
It is being delivered sometime next week but will keep you posted and post pics as soon as we get it all fixed in.

Hi! Matt, that is quite an interesting Dishwasher and a great idea for the extra Power Zone Wash Arms, for directing the Wash/Rinse to Pots-N-Pans and the Silverware. I assume that the Silverware has it's own Rack above the Upper Rack and all of the Cutlery lays on it's side being separated, not allowing any pieces to touch each other, is that correct? I didn't see any Pix's of such a Silverware Rack on the ASKO Site. Might only the "Over the Pond" areas have the Site Pictures of a separate Silverware Rack?

Wooo! That dishwasher looks great, loving the stainless steel. shame you couldn't afford a washer either! Is this a model which has a mini version of the Miele cutlery tray?

Caution about the Asko Dishwasher!!!!!!

Just a little info for you that I know you might want. The Asko series of dishwashers are very "water efficant" therefore you need to read the instruction book very carefully about how much and what type of detergent to use in them. My old friend had one and of course the store didn't tell her anything so she thought you could just use liquid cascade or something like that and in a matter of two weeks it had etched all her glasses. Just thought I would give you a heads up. Other then that she loved the machine and she said it was the quietest dishwasher she has ever had.

Old GE dishwashers used to feature the "Silver Shower"--a tiny spray arm directly underneath the silverware basket. I always thought it was a good idea but don't recall whether it worked or not.

Water Efficiency

Hi John,

All machines in Australia, now have to use less than 20L of water for a complete cycle. You just fill up to the line which is usually 30mL or 1.5 TBL and its never a problem.

I use more in my Miele, which uses 12L for a full cycle, and 12 months on have no signs of etching whatsoever.

Great looking machines Matt, does the asko have a cutlery tray now, or is it the fold down knife drawer that sits in the top?

I saw that same d/w at our local mega-mart for less than $400US. I was quite impressed with the aimed spraying for the lower rack "zone" but a bit skeptical of how much the cutlery sprayer would do - I guess it can't hurt! I had an Asko 1585 that is now purring away in my parent's kitchen - one of the best machines I've ever used for cleaning.

Loved the Hitachi vids, when is that machine from?
