Very neat place---drooling over that as well.Looks like the amp and tuner in the built in Hi-fi looks like Sherwood-collectors items now.Used to have a Sherwood amp like the one shown.sold it to another collector. The Honeywell weather device looks something like in old radio stations---in the main studio. The jock would read the current temps, wind speeds, direction from it while on air between "cuts".The temp, wind sensors would be outside the building.Have installed a couple of these systems. We have one at my workplace that shows the similar weather parameters.Great during hurricane season! The fire hose station is just like at the transmitter site-however that water hose would be useless and DANGEROUS during electrical fires! The old machines shown in the pictures are indeed cool! worth it to keep 'em going-better than the new TRASH!!!
The ovens are both Tappan, the very cool MW on the right and the double electric Tappan on the left. The warming drawers below the MW are Toastmaster. One thing I always liked was the Newtone vented exhaust hood that was mounted over the wall ovens back in the day when people actually cooked. Now a days they are too lazy to vent anything and the house smells terrible especially when using the SC cycle. This is why I am keeping my Thermador wall oven from the 1980s as it vents directly outside like a clothes dryer. Even when you run the clean cycle with a very dirty oven you barley know it on and a good deal of the heat goes out also.
I just wet my pants. That house is a dream come true for a techie.
But what a headache to keep all those electronics running, but it would be major fun.
The stereo does appear to be SHERWOOD.
Gee, did someone FAMOUS live there when that building was built? Someone had a boatload of money to afford that stuff.
Those big knobs with the squiggles are indeed dimmers. I used to work for a bank that had the 1952 dream kitchen built into it. It had those same dimmers to dim all the starburst ceiling lamps. Them be big honkin' dimmers.
Man, if I had the money I'd buy it as-is-as-shown.
TwintubeDexter, I also live in Palm Springs, Is there any way you could divulge
the where abouts of the house, I would love to see it. Or if there is an estate sale, please give me a date.
Big "honking" dimmer-think those were AUTOTRANSFORMER(Variac) dimmers-this was used before the solid state Triac based ones. The transformer ones need like TWO "J" boxes to hold them-and they were HEAVY.--but worked.
I remember luxurious, pricey homes being advertised in Town & Country Magazine that touted "beautiful custom St. Charles kitchen"...the closest thing I saw were the metal cabinets in our first place...a 950 sq foot house in Cupertino CA...they were funky Crosley units with an integrated sink...more like a "St. Chuck" kitchen.
I recently bought a new-in-box Honeywell weather station with missing parts (missing the outdoor thermometer and the knob for the temperature) and the only other one I could find when I searched for images on Google happens to be on this website!
