I Love it!

How nice of you to post pics of this interesting and short-lived commercial vacuum cleaner. The top of the bag is really interesting. What exactly makes this particular model a commercial vacuum? One thing that will definately hold up to heavy duty use, is the handle release, and the rear wheels. I love your 913's in the background. Is this the "commercial corner" of your house??? Thanks again for the pics! Very cool!

Although I think it would probably hold up, I am SHOCKED that the vacuum is self-propelled. You would think that for commercial use, the vacuum would not feature the power drive.

Bag

This cleaner has one of the oddest bag arrangements I have ever seen.
First the outer bag unzips and comes off the hanger

Inside the inner bag

is the type A paper bag...

As for differences, there are only a couple, namely theres a plastic shield over the transmission bracket on the belt side, the bottom plate is held in place by screws, and this has a long commercial cord. Otherwise this is an ordinary Concept One.
This one was worked on before I got it, it was a mess when I got it. One day I'll completely restore it.

I think..

The cloth bag is meant to be used without the paper bag inside of it... I think the bag hanger should be left to support the orange bag (kind of like the current Conquest outer bags). The cloth re-usable bag would then have a second slide on it, and if you didn't use the cloth bag, you'd use paper. That way the orange bag is always taught. Make sense?

triple bags

No idea why they did it like that, but they also use the same arrangement on the bagged Conquest models too

You don't run a paper bag inside of the cloth reusable bag on a Conquest... It's either paper or cloth, which goes inside the outer jacket.

Cool!

What an interesting vacuum! I bet it would withstand commercial use a lot longer than a lot of the commercial vacuums made today. Wonderful and detailed pics. Thanks!

paper inside cloth

Fred's right, I am sure its not meant to have both paper and a cloth bag installed at the same time, I have this set up like that just for fun, and I can't really remember the last time this machine ran.

The "cloth bag within a bag" is a wonderful idea. The material really does a fine job of filtering dust and dirt without stopping air flow. I have an old Conquest with this arrangement and it is tops. We used a Concept One at a big church I used to work for in NY. It was easy for the custodian to use, did a fantastic job, and went for several years. The quadriflex agitator bearings went a couple times, and the brush strips were all but gone. Once a week that bag was chuck full of dirt. What killed the machine was the swivel clutch arm on the front of the motor housing. It actually wore out, and they replaced the machine with yet another Concept One self-propelled. Have no idea how long it lasted- I left to work in the Christian Science church, where they had a central vac system and an old Hoover Convertible for the office.

That was what usually went first

That pivoting clutch arm for the self propel...I bought Concept Ones when I first worked for the cleaning service(cheapie model U3109's) and that clutch arm would last about 6 months before it was so worn the powerdrive wouldn't work.
It was a bummer too, because the Concept One cleaned the plush model home carpets beautifully!
I went thru 2 U3109's, and when the 2nd one went I bought the Sanitaire which is still running.

Hi Jeff!
For plushes, I don't think you can beat a Concept One. Have you fainted? Yes, I have finally put a Hoover over a Eureka! It's a shame the clutch arms weren't designed a bit more durable. Belts on the Concepts tended to fail fast with plush carpets, too. Still on for the challenge?
