Help Support :

Steve are you going to have all Maytag appliances as daily drivers before long? I bet that new WU600 Looks perfect being in the same local area as your 1964 Highlander. I wonder if the sounds between the two of them running bring harmony! And I don't mean GE harmony. (LOL) Perhaps you could post a pic of a wide angle view so all can see how the Maytag's are coming on in!

Wow that is a great find Steve. When I was a kid we had the three push button/dial version of that machine in harvest gold. I would love to hear the sounds of that dishwasher again sometime.

Hey Steve, what a great addition to the kitchen! It is such a beauty and looks brand new. I'm sure all the neighboring housewives are jealous ;-)

I don't remember if Greg's is a pre or post '75, but I just loved falling asleep to the rhythm of that dishwasher.

Congratulations Steve, it looks MINT! Greg mentioned to me last night about the reversa-rack arrangement and how there was a full-sized spray arm on top, which I had never noticed in the pictures. Then again, I didn't open up the WP400 either and examine the interior more closely.

Would definitely like to see how it does with a Bob-load.

Well as luck has it, Tomorrow 10/02/2006 I want to stop by Steve's and see this wonderful machine. One can only imagine how the cycles chunk.

I too am awating the results of a BIG (BOB) LOAD to understand it's cleaning ability. I am sure once the peas are scraped off, then there is no reason for rinsing dishes. We will see. Maybe I can sneak a pic of the highlander machines(s) and this wonderful TOL dishwasher all in cync.

Cannot wait.

Steve

Timeless design

I loved these machines! When you look at all of our vintage appliances, Maytags, especially those of the Sixties and early Seventies had the most simple and elegant designs. Everything was based on the center of the circle inside the square and there were no extraneously gewgaws or missed shots. I love how the buttons on this dishwasher reflect the control panels of the A906's and their predecessors. Everything was clear, simple and intelligent. They were gutsy enough to reinvent the dishwasher and place the racks for glassware on the bottom of the unit, solving the problem of accommodating oversized glassware and bowls and not skimping on cleaning ability for plates. I don't understand why they ever gave that up? It never ceases to amaze me how we have, in the last 30 years regressed to junk. It's a crime.

The visit

Here you can see the "BOB LOAD" we created. The results were great, everything was clean with not a spot on anything. What a wonderful machine.

Visited with Steve and Brent for about 3.5 hours and had a blast. Did three loads of laundry as well.

Steve had prepared an unexpected traditional "cook everything" in the kitchen meal and a to die for choc. pound cake.
