Whats behind the words

I worked with an amazing women, from Puerto Rico. She was bright, insightful and very funny.

She would say unbelievable things to important people. I was afraid she'd get fired and warned her. Her response, "Oh they just think I am a stupid immigrant and don't know any better, so I can say anything I want"

I have seen people come from other countries, start a business and be very conscientious. Worthy of trust, like my grandparents.

By the same token I have been played for a fool, by the same community, who pretends to be trustworthy.

Lord knows I was born without proof reading. No matter how many times I look at a printed word, I simply see what I want to see.

Shall one of us buy it and find out which of the above it is?

By the way. The Maytag Halo of Heat does an okay job, doesn't treat permanent press very well, dries an average mixed load in about 50 - 60 minutes, makes a deep rumble with a rattling undertone as it runs and if your lucky, the sweetest little bell to let you know your time is up. The best part? When it's done you get to stand on your head and feel your way up its dryer butt to pull out the lint filter, which will fall in two and drop it's contents in the dryer drum.

Oh my! Those were the days,

Kelly, you must have had a Maytag H-O-H dryer that was fairly whipped. I've had several of them and always had good luck with them, one of the quietest dryers I've ever used - nearly silent when running correctly. My current '59 HOH drys a load from it's Maytag mate in about 40 minutes - or less depending on what washer did the final spinning.

Sounds like you need another HOH dryer!

HOH

Look at the picture and condition of the dryer, in the ebay ad and then draw your own conclusion to its status.

I bought a new HOH for my mom in 1970 and she used it for 21 years. There was a Highlander in the school where I taught from 1987 to 1993, one left in the house we bought in Puyallup in 1996 and one I bought used, for a second in Ellensburg, in 1998, plus a few couple hundred I have seen and used along the way.

There was a commonality in voice with them all, but age and use coupled with care and maintenance give each machine it's own tenor.

Boy now, can't we just accept there are no absolutes?

Besides the drift in the thread was more about grammer that may indicate ESL, not whether every HOH made in American history is silent and dries every load in 40 minutes.

Sorry, but the final paragraph in your posting was about the performance and operation of the HOH dryers - it sounded like that subject was still ongoing despite the brief drift into grammar/ESL.

As there is no appliance history in your profile that would indicate experience with any machine, it could easily be assumed that you had only ever seen one. Take some time to share some of your past experience and interest in appliances, etc. in your profile, it's a great way for others to learn about you.

From the tone and composition of your reply, you might have thought that I was attacking your position, but that couldn't be further from the truth. We all have opinions and experiences with many different appliances which is the commonality that brings us together in a place where we can discuss, learn and offer help to others without fear of being berated by our peers.

Profile

I spent four days perfecting and refining my profile when I arrived at Automatic Washers.
I got a kink in my drain hose, deleted my profile and left the group for a few days.
No matter how amazing or well written a profile is or was, not every one reads them.
It was so much work, I am loath to recreate it. Since you missed it the first time. I will begin again.
Luck and a spontaneous spirit have provided me the chance to move border to border and coast to coast in my life.
Some amazing jobs and the moves and travel allowed me to find and buy some amazing appliances both new and used.
It crossed my mind, not everyone would believe all I wrote, so I try to fill in enough detail, in my threads, that it would become apparent I was not a shill.
I believed my Maytag 808 dryer was quieter than the Halo with a softer, less noticable rumble. It was also a touch faster and Lord knows the filter was easier to clean.
My experience with Maytag dryers led me to believe there were better choices for permanent press.
When the Norgetag Atlantis came into my house in 2000, judging it simply on drying performance there was worlds of improvement in speed, capacity and cool down.

Behind the scene

Greg,
I added some info into my profile and attempted to leave out some of the narrative that is indicative of my style, speaking of low rumble and slight vibration!
