I was contacted this afternoon by a gentleman from KPIX the CBS-TV affiliate in San Francisco. They would love to do a story on vintage washers collector in this area. If you are interested please contact:

Hey, Dan!

"Tonight on KPIX5: Appliance Hoarders and The People Who Barely Understand Them..."

Yes, Mr. Stoelk, please come in. Pull up a washer and have a seat... ROFLMAO!!!

Pull up a washer and have a seat...

Oh, and just set those parts anywhere and squeeze in between the rest of them, lol.

I'd be immediately sent to the insane asylum if they walked into the family room. LOL!!

I like us being in a secret society.

Yeah, I agree there.

No worries. I wouldn't accept their offer even if they waved several thousand $ in front of me. I'm a very private individual and would like to remain that way. I would offer them all of the pics they wanted as long as my name wasn't mentioned. That's about it, though.

Another thought....

Well,

I see it from a different perspective....if they gave you the opportunity to state what machines you might be still be looking for....wouldn't that interest you?

Here in Oz, i had the opportunity of being on our national ABC radio across the country and a few more machines have come my way.

Each to their own i suppose...
Cheers
Leon

if they gave you the opportunity to state what machines you

Well, I'm officially full up to the gills anyway. Just brought in the HDE806 (finally) and can't fit another machine without blocking walkway passages, unless I start stacking machines. Hmmmm.......lol!

I'll let others around here get their chance to build up their own collection.

It would nice if we could acquire some air time in order to spread the word and increase the clubs chances in locating dreams machines, instead of them being crushed and reshaped into a Kia's.

It's most always a good thing when the "TV People" show interest in a topic. Best of luck. alr2903

Dan, You're the Man!

Give it some thought. Just imagine the people who will contact Channel 5 with stuff they want to unload--and who KPIX will then contact to advise!

And RCD, Reno gets most of the SF stations don't they, so I'm sure you would qualify.

I know it's relatively slim pickins at Nate's house right now, although he's conveniently located and would be a very articulate representative of our little subculture here. I think I'm going to give him a call right now . . .

The only station we get is some feeds from Ktvu 2 news. We should try to get them to go to Kevin's garage. They wouldn't even need camera lights... LOL!

I really think this would be a fun segment if we can get local people with interesting machines to participate. And again, the motherlode of vintage machines--not just washers--that could surface as a result should be viewed by locals here as a real motivator.

I'm willing to get creative and try to hammer out an arrangement that gets KPIX their story and doesn't negatively impact any of the local membership here that wants to maintain their privacy, and would be happy to put a meeting together with interested parties.

Oh the shame of it all

I'm in a similar position as others... I have some machines... but they are mostly not presentable and the entire area is far too cluttered up to allow a TV crew to broadcast the disaster on local tv... lol...

It would be nicer if they were to bill the show as being about the MACHINES and not the people who collect them...

OTOH, Dan, if you're that cramped for room I could probably eject a 90's WCI gas dryer to make room for that GM Frigidaire you acquired a couple years ago... :-)

I dunno...

If our machines got exposure, I could just see the EPA fining us all for not having Energy Star Rated Appliances.

I mean if you can get pulled over for not wearing your seat Belt, Imagine what would the fine be for a Overflow Rinsing Machine !!! LOL

I can just see the Energy Star Police pulling up in front of our homes with a 30 foot truck with a lift gate and confiscating our machines.
