Best bet for the underneath is oven cleaner on a warm griddle. Use a brass bristle brush to get deep into corners. I even used it along the edges of the cooking surface where grease had baked on and had the whole thing shining. For the cooking surface I followed up with a Brillo pad. If the underside darkens too much from the oven cleaner, some CLR-type acid cleaner will brighten it up.
