Anyone know, or have any experience or recommendations for auto shipping?
I need to have a car shipped from W.V to C.A!
Needs to be a enclosed transport. There are tons of adds online, but would be nice to get a recommendation from someone here!

Thanks

Be very careful with this.

Years ago a large part of my family was driving back from Texas when the family van broke down in New Mexico. It had thrown a push rod and was going to take too long to repair, so everyone flew back home and my dad arranged to have the van shipped back home to Los Angeles where he could repair it himself. The price quoted ($1500) seemed reasonable to him, but the van didn't turn up at home when it was supposed to, so he called the company and was informed that they had the van at their facility and it would cost an additional $1500 to release it due to unexpected costs they'd incurred, and each day they had it the cost would increase by another fifty. Needless to say he was a bit angry about this, but on the advice of an attorney he paid the bill and planned to take the company to small claims court to get the additional money back. Unfortunately, when he filed the paperwork to sue the company he discovered it had gone out of business and reopened at another location with a different name but all of the same employees. This is not as uncommon as one would hope, so make sure to use a company with an established reputation. Asking for personal recommendations as you're doing here is actually a very good idea.

I think the auto train only goes from the north to Florida.

A number of years ago I shipped my 70' VW bug from SFO to Houston. I can't find the paperwork now, but I was very pleased with the shipping. It cost abut $800 to ship in an enclosed carrier. I remember the company was operated by a woman.

My cousin used to drop ship cars..

The biggest problem was people who didn't realize where the keys were left if the car was dropped off when they weren't home... Now that I think about it, the cars weren't covered.

Auto Train

Yes, Lorton Va to Sanford FL. Was once, briefly, also available from around Louisville to Florida as well.

Thanks guys

And thank you Andrew for posting the link.

I'm still shopping. Just so many to choose from! Don't know who to trust!
It's a vintage car, and a convertible. Don't want it destroyed before it gets here, or be stung on the price.

I just used uship to deliver a car to me. I posted my price and the shippers bid on it. All the carriers have feedback ratings and basic insurance.
I also got to have my car shipped in an enclosed trailer at new additional cost.

Thanks for the replys

I ended up using a broker. (Very good reviews) He posted the a price he thought was reasonable for this type of car, distance, time of year ect, and I agreed to it.
A shipper accepted the posted price and terms, and car was picked up last Sat. The broker said it would take about 7-10 days to arrive.

I've since received a email from the broker with the name of the shipper, phone # ect.
When I got the name of the shipper, I checked "shippers"reviews, and they weren't good!

I'm trying to tell myself that people are more apt to post when dis satisfied, than satisfied, and that the broker has used, and been satisfied with this shipper.

So far it's gone O.K however the car isn't here yet, so I don't know the end of this story!

455 would have a lot of power !

And would pass everything! ... But a gas station LOL.

This has a 350, it's not a restored car, just garaged. It was repainted once in 1988 in its original Oldsmobile Cranberry. Top replace in 2011. I will be the third owner. (If I get it)
From what I understand there were only 7088 of this model made by G.M

OK, I've found the paperwork for the company I used to transport my 70 Bug from SFO to HOU.

I used Bullseye Auto Transport 877-216-6683, and the contact name is Carla Gardiner.

Not only did my bug arrive in perfect condition, but there wasn't even any dust on it. It traveled in an enclosed carrier that even had hardwood floors! They had the best price. And Carla made the whole thing so easy. She's very nice to deal with too.
She kept me updated about the transport telling me each day where my car was. And they were one of the cheapest to use too.
