Avatar - The best you can see at cinema right now

YES!!!!!!!.

I havent seen any threads about this movie. Thought it was nice idea to talk about this awesome and great movie. I have already seen it 6 times. 3 times as regular 2D and the other times as 3D.

The director James Cameron has done a simple story really great. For those who seen it, admit the movie is like a drug. You cant get too much of it.

And Yes, i have kinda strong feelings for Neytiri. She so... i dont know what to say.. Just perfect.

I have seen some Youtube videos of the movie. Here are some.

It's good & I enjoyed it, but....

It's "Fern Gully" meets "Dances With Wolves" meets "the smerfs on roids."

My favorite quote from the movie, "...I've got guns to bitch."

I took my partner

to see Avatar (the 3D version) on his birthday and it was great, especially with the 3D glasses. A must see film!

I heard that people got depressed and suicidal after watching Avatar because they long to be in their world. There's some kind of psychology there. I don't know.

I haven't watched it yet. I'll have to wait for the DVD

I wish the film would have been completely animated, or completely not animated. My SO liked it, but I wasn't able to get past the combination of the two, it looked like a more advanced version of Roger Rabbit.

Also, the screenplay was laughably bad, we found ourselves LOL at several points, e.g.

"Out beyond that fence every living thing that crawls, flies or squats in the mud wants to kill you and eat your eyes for Jujubees!"

It's a relief to know Jujubees will still be around 150 years from now.

I agree with you, Jeff, it is amazing that they couldn't afford a screen play. Screen play sucked big time, acting performances marginal. Visuals good, but it was like a Walt Disney movie except for the need to tease adolescents with the 'I think I saw a nipple' titillation.

But then, I am a Blade Runner fan when it comes to sci-fi and don't think digital makes a better movie. A good director can make one scorpion scary as heck. Making 1,000 digital scorpions is less scary. i.e. more can be less.

BUT MY FAVORITE part of the movie was Ms. Weaver's necklace. Very well done. Some time type 'Teresa Goodall' into google if you want to see creative neck wear.

Avatar: For a celebration of the digital technology - swell. For a movie - thumbs down.

So true, Mark. One of the most frightening movies I remember as a kid was the original (Japanese version) of Godzilla. It starts with a completely black screen, and all you hear is the distant sounds of waves on a beach.. and then.. these huge, crashing footsteps, and ungodly moans from an obviously gargantuan and prehistoric creature. Screen still completely black, and your WTF sensors are pegged off the chart.

Indeed less is usually more. It's the same reason I prefer books (and even radio programs) to films, e.g. if you've never read The Exorcist, it's infinitely scarier than the movie.

Jeff, so true about the "exorcist", the terror kind of builds as it does with "The Shining". As far as "Avatar" goes i think i will hold out for it's showing on HBO. Jeff what age group mostly turned out for the theatre showing? alr2903
