That is a beautiful kitchen from its day. Canisters and wall paper coordinate. A KDS16. Even color-matching tea kettle.
OMG!!!!! my mom had those same kitchen cabinets…..
in the house that I grew up in. They were made by a company called Maryland Maid and ours were installed in the house when it was built in 1968 and we had then until 2000. We even had avocado green appliances too until mom replaced them with Harvest Gold in 1979/80….WOW!!! what a blast from my past…PAT COFFEY

That reminds me a lot of some friend's kitchen, installed summer of '72. Instead of the floral wall covering, they had a plaid pattern in those colors.

i remember....
we had them curtains in the same green, white & orange colors, on our backdoor!! and i recently bought a few sets off of ebay in brown, tan, white & darm orange colors and have them hanging on the kitchen backdoor, the kitchen window above the sink, and the window in the diningroom, next to the kitchen, and here in front of me, where i sit at the computer!!!

as for that kitchen sink, wasn't there another avocado sink like that for sale not too long ago??? from what i remember, the sinks were really wide, something like 40 or 43 inches across (if i remember correctly???).
you can even see an avocado green dishwasher, in the lower left hand corner of the picture. all that's missing is the avocado green washer & dryer set!!!

)Wallpaper is too loud and "flowery" for me.Rest is fine.Had similar wallpaper in my bathroom-now gone!!MUCH better-the era of the 70's they loved that flower power wallpaper.
O.M.G. I just got set back in time. Back in 77 my parents moved the family. The house we relocated to had a wallpaper pattern that was almost identical to the one in this post. The kitchen also had dark cabinets in it as well as avocado stove and DW.

....Is that in 20 years, today's stainless appliances, stone counters and glass-tile backsplashes will look just as dated.
Not that you could tell any of today's remodelers that.

Would be willing to bet the wallcovering is either Sanitas or Wall-Tex.
Is the Sanitas or Wal-Tex wallcovering vinyl?I did "recycle" the flower power wallcovering from my bathroom as---shelf paper-works good for that!!The stuff looked to sturdy just to throw away-just use it for something else-just don't want to see those huge red flowers-was giving me the heebee-jeebees!The bottoms of cans and other things don't seem to mind.
Hey Rex, yes the Sanitas and Wall-Tex is fabric backed vinyl. It was hugely popular in the 60's through 80's, and still selling well when I stopped working in a paint & wallcovering store in '90. The last few years FBV has been used mostly in commercial installations (hotel, medical, etc.), and most is sold in 54" widths.
Yes,looked up Sanitas and WalTex,indeed they are still around and selling wallcovering in the commercial size widths.Bought some of this not too long ago-like this BETTER than the narrow household width.Goes up faster and easier.Kinda like putting up wall paneling.If you want to use wallpapers-guess commercial may be the way you have to go-the household dealers here have dried up.Like the plain styles of the commercial--no flowers,or other feminine designs.The commercial papers are more neutral.Remember a salesman at one of the wallpaper places stated that wallcoverings were designed to appeal more to women than men-hence the flowers and such.The commercial "wallcloth" vinyl wallcovering sort of reminds me of upolstery cloth.Beleive the same width.And since the wallcovering is commercial-guess it will wear like iron.No need to replace it.

I hung a lot of wall paper, probably as some of you out there, too. I found closeouts on designer stuff (RL) and hung it in our 450 ft2 apartment(parent's flat). I didn't do flowers - that era was long gone by 1982, lol! But what I liked was the flocking, you mentioned (tolivac). I used it in the hallway - was neutral and great to look at and touch. In certain homes, certain wallpaper might be perfect. The width for our apartment was perfect - commercial stuff would not be as easy to put up because the wallspace was not generous between windows and doors in my parent's 1925 built house.

I love that kitchen up to the over-exuberant use of flowers. I like the flowers but...would have used them above the sofit only and chose other wall treatment or paint for the rest. You guys are funny - Pat Nixon, Uglier now, the comments crack me up.
"Counting flowers on the wall, that don't bother me at all, playing solitaire til dawn, with a deck of 51, smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo, now don't tell me, you've nothing to do...."
"Countin' flowers on the wall..."
They would have to come and take me away, to the funny farm if I had to look at all those flowers for a day. But it all goes together and works, even if the wallcovering comes from smokin' funny cigarettes.
