Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Were it 1970, this thread might actually be a competitive horse race with a number of brands vying for the top spot. In 2013, not so much. Normally, I hate shut-outs; but I'll have to go with Speed Queen.[this post was last edited: 3/29/2013-20:45]

Speed Queen but I haven't had any other top loads. Had to use my Mom's BOL GE top load HE....couldn't believe the little amount of water used and that I couldn't adjust the water level!

Hmm

1970: WP/Kenmore

Now: SQ. I pushed for a new SQ washer but "somebody" wanted an HE machine that could wash her king sized comforter, so LG it is, which would've been my second choice.

Depends on what the individual finds most important. Best washing? Most durable? Most bells and whistles? Best looking?

We chose a Speed Queen 3.5 years ago after our $1200 Kitchenaid died after 6 bad years. Our old avocato colored Moffat gave us a good 20 years, and we expected at least a good a return on the high end KA.

Sure it looks and works like something from the 70's, but I'm confident we will get 15 years from it.

I'd have to say SQ too

But - if SQ is sticking to the OLD (which is a good thing) then why are they lowering the water levels? I thought that was manufacturer choice that was done due to tax credits and not necessarily something they are forced to do. Good thing they are adjustable.
