You've seen the pictures.  They make you cringe, or antsy.  They make you say "ahhh NO!  I would change that first thing."   Or maybe the pictures or situation makes you happy you have what you have.

Just saw this 60s gem.  That dutch door refrigerator, Maytag dw from the 80, GE wall oven, Amana radar-range but look at that red brick and red sink and floor.  If I had to deal with this daily .... no way.

blue mid 90s GE frig

OK, the color isn't bad but.... there's just something not right about this.

The gold painted handles or perhaps it's the fact they didn't do the sides?

Someone likes red. I wonder if that brick is actually glazed ceramic tile in a brick shape and size.  Even red electric receptacles snd cover plates. The floor is what really makes it look so bad. It reminds me of a Jello salad my neighbor used to serve at their Christmas party. I can't tell what type of material it is, whether carpet or sheet vinyl.

Agree on the red being too red. What I also don't care for is having the oven so far away from the countertops. THere doesn't look to be much room to the side of those cooktop burners to place a big roasting pan down etc.

Beautiful shade of pastel green and the cabinets are nice.

The stove top though.... so if you put a pot of soup on there, then you bump the "drawer" how would that boiling pot not end up on the floor and on your feet?

Plus it's sticking out passed the counter edge.

looks like...

A fire in another part of the house left a lot of smoke damage...

But all they did was paint over the ceiling , clean the appliances, floor and sink and use it as is when they moved back.

awful

I knew a family in the mid-late 60's that painted three walls of their living room black, and the other wall aqua. The carpet was black with an aqua and coral pink design. The tables were black, and sofa  and chairs in the other colors. Needless to say it was a unique room, in a unique house, occupied by unique people. The lady is a musician and actress, and later ran a very well known music school in the San Jose, CA area.
