Kitchenaid KUD124SEWH2

I have been attracted to the internals of the Kitcheniad dishwasher since using one at church. This is the one sold to me "as new" while on vaction. The owner turned it on and it scared her so badly she unloaded them without finishing the cycle leaving soap inside.
I didn't buy the story then and even less now.

ScareCrow wasn't the only one without a Brain

I hadn't occurred to me there were several models all looking alike. My experience with the one at church is much newer, noise level is too low to hear, the racks are more fully adjustable and enough cycles to please all Dorothy's friends. Mine is the BOL from an earlier era. Plain racks, no adjustment, little sound proofing, rinse and hold or temp boost. I'm one of those freaky kind that uses all the cycles.

CLR

One cycle with CLR and some steel wool made loads of difference. It was in the middle of Rinse and Hold when I took the picture. I looks much better after the wash cycle and the door is clean.

How Much

I bought a 16 ounce container for $5.98. Using a paint scraper holding a single edged razor blade, I removed all I could from flat surfaces. After pouring the container of CLR on the door of the machine I dipped a cloth into the solution and swabbed the interior of the machine. The machine was then started using a temperature boost for the main wash. About halfway through the the wash, I opened the hot steamy chamber and scrubbed the stainless interior with a metal sponge. I removed the racks and using SOS cleaned the glides and the Hydro Sweep wash arm. At the end of the cycle any remaining areas where addressed. The holes in the lower and upper wash arms was packed full of scale that came loose from the tub. After removing both wash arms and cleaning them thoroughly, I poured a gallon of white vinegar in the sump and let the machine sit over night. I ran it the next day with a load of dishes and Cascade Complete. I was disappointed the dishwasher wasn't more Deluxe. Today my neighbor, a recycler was parting out a Kitchenaid dishwasher with a bad control board. I got the racks and wash arms from the that unit to swap out in mine, making my Accord into an Acura.
