ME first, SCREW you ..............

As I said, the rules of the road are the rules fo the road. I don't care how big your _______ or your ____ is. No one is special, chosen, elite or above-it-all.

*vehicle or wallet/purse.

It's almost like two different forms of driving from the different genders.

Female aggressive driving, whip around and pull in front of you.. me me me... You go girl, izz all about me.

Male aggressive driving, mash the pedal as far as it will go, lots of intimidation of bullying type driving.

We have both down here and hopefully, the state cops and Lafayette police will get it under control.

Well, time to go home. I'm Pri'en today so let's see who burns the least amount of fuel going home. MUHAHAHAHA. And no, I"m not a smug Prius driver that blocks up traffic by going annoyingly slow to get gas mileage. The best way to operate a Prius and get good mileage is stay in the right or center lane, switch lanes only to keep momentum going (like when someone's turning right and you don't want to brake), or to pass slower vehicle.

Some while back I met a judge at a friend's birthday party. He was a very nice guy (aren't all judges nice?, LOL), and I will never forget what he told me that night: most fatal car accidents in highways are caused by SLOW drivers! One of the larger highways leading south from Buenos Aires fell under his jurisdiction, so I guess he knew what he was talking about.

He told me story after story where the culprit had been a slow driver. Some were close to unbelievable! He insisted that most fatal accidents are caused by slow drivers, during the day, during the night, during rainy days, during foggy days, during frost days, and so on. The second cathegory to cause accidents were drunk drivers, the third sleepy drivers and the fourth speedy drivers! Way back in last place came the accidents caused by mechanical failures (i.e., a blown tire, faulty brakes).

One of the stories that struck me most was a driver that because of a very heavy night fog had just stopped (braked) his car in the right lane of the highway, but very cautiously had turned on his 4way emergency flasher! It was a matter of seconds before another car (driving at an appropriate speed given the weather conditions) had slammed into the rear of the first car, killing all people in both cars.

There was a slow driver in the left lane today on I-49. THAT will only make aggressive drivers even more aggressive and possible road rage. Slow people, get in the right lane or get off the interstate. Hwy 182 parellels I49 and I use it often when I don't feel like messing with the traffic, so there's no excuse to not use a back road if you have to go slow.

Female drivers

Many women today are hateful towards men. That's no secret. Thank women's lib/feminism for that. It's kind of disconcerting to know that women will only slow down for female or child pedestrians, and the attitude carries while driving... Cut the man off and fuel her insecurity.

Helen isn't like that but she's one of those go slow in the left lane drivers. I'm like, "Honey, you're going slow in the left lane" and she moves over lol.

Yea, with time, age and wisdom I convinced myself that people who drive slower than me are a bunch of a$$holes and those who drive faster are a tribe of savages!

I saw a good one the other day. On the divided hiway near me where there are still occasional stoplights. I pulled up to the red light, a woman sitting about 30 ft into the middle of the intersection waiting to make her left turn when the lights turned yellow..instead of proceeding thru her turn when the opposing traffic stopped, she put the car in reverse and backs up into the left turn lane, all the while chatting on her cellphone. How do people like that get a license, that's an instant fail on the exam here. What makes me even madder is those people who when making a left turn will not under any circumstance move out into the instersection but sit and wait till they can make a complete left without stopping thereby making everyone behind them miss the light.. grrrrrr.

I remember a "soccer mom" in a SUV--the kids romping in back and the "Baby On Board" stickers on her car-tailgating me on I-66 at 60MPH-she wanted around me in most aggressive way-in trhe DC area the worst ones seem to be the females with kids-in their 30's--got to get those kids to their soccer match on time!!And on other trips--see those same types being pulled out of a ditch!.
Out where I am now its the SLOWPOKES that are the problem-esp during hunting season as the deerhunters cruise the backroads out here-near where I work looking for deer. They go so slow!!Folks out here don't know what the turn signal handles are for in their cars-at intersections--you don't know!!and they LOVE to stomp on the brakes at green lights-never could understand-in other areas you would get hit from behind if you did that(DC)Oh well driving anywhere is a challenge these days-its to the point I let my cellphone ring and call back whoever was calling when I can stop. And oh yes during the harvest-some slow moving farm equipment that won't pullover to let the car "trains" they made go by.the country streets here are quite narrow and no paved shoulders. Also here there is frequent accidents of speeders hitting roadside mower tractors. Some mower operators post signs where they are operating-very good for them and the cars.I like to give those flail mowers wide bith in case they hit something or throw a flail.

Everyone has that "me 1st" attitude that's what causes the aggressive driving.

Good news. I saw a few cops out on I49 and a whole bunch of them on Hwy90 outside of Lafayette, and they were on the move catching speeders. YEAH! Get 'em!

Slowpokes, yeah we have them, in the left lane on the interstate. Stupid asses. Get in the right lane or go on Hwy182 if you wanna go that darn slow.

I had to laugh...

My father is in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.

The older folks have clung to the thought that the I-10 major highway (I think that's what it is!) is a sure death-trap.

This is PERFECT. Keeps the slower drivers off the highway!
The local service road runs parallel for miles and miles, so people can figure out how to get where they are going, no prob.

Whoever publishes these types of newpaper articles down there is sure a sharp one!

I was thrilled to break 40 mph for once down there!
I came home and did 70 (keeping up with traffic, here) on the Long Island Expreswway just for fun! LOL

TE HE HE HE

Except for a few crazy people that still want to drive stupid, looks like people are watching their manners a little better. People are driving at or around the speed limit and alot of the tailgating/aggressive driving is gone. Makes it more enjoyable for me to have my Starbucks and not have to put up with aholes. Now if they can get rid of the slowpokes or make them drive on the service roads and country highways then it will be ok.

Agreed

BUT motorcycles don't own the road either. Not all but some motorcyclists think it's their God given right to cut in and out of lanes, driving between cars, popping wheelies, etc. Their anger towards "cagers" only fuels other peoples anger towards motorcycles. I've always wanted a bike but not with the way people drive today. NO WAY.

It's vacation season on I-95

Interstate 95 between Richmond and DC, and Interstate 64 between Richmond & VA beach is known as the "Fertile Crescent" of Virginia becasue it has experienced a wealth of economic growth over the past 10-15 years. The probem is that these highways are seriously over capacity at pretty much all hours of the day and night because the state cannot decide how to pay for transportation upgrades.

I frequent I-95 to do work up in the DC area on occasion. This highway will test your nerves to the maximum! When it's moving...it's really moving, with a pace that is at minimum 75 mph. When it isn' moving, well, you can get out your car & have a picnic in the median strip! It's taken me 5 hours on occasion to make the 100 mile trip from Downtown DC to Richmond. One of the truck drivers said over the CB "They ought to just bulldoze this highway over and plant flowers on it cuz it would be more useful as a transportation device like that!" I can't see how the people live up in the DC area and deal with loosing so many of their hours a day parked in traffic.

Well, typically, during non-summer, and non-holiday periods, things are heavy on 95, but usually not too bad if you time your travels right (Northbound between 8AM & 11 AM Monday - thursday)(Southbound betwen 12 PM & 3PM or after 10 PM at night) Anyways, most regulars out on the highway understand proper lane etiquitte, except for a few. Most drivers just sort of go with the flow, while merging traffic gets up to speed quickly.

The problem comes during this time of year when the highway is cluttered by vacationers who aren't familiar with how to properly drive on an interstate highway. They park their over-loaded minivans & SUV's in the left lanes moving less than 50 MPH with their bumpers dragging the ground. They're loaded with numerous kids, and pretty much every belonging they own. When they merge onto the highway, they don't have the power to get up to speed, so they end up causing bottlenecks and a bunch of swerving to get out their way. What's worse is when these idiots driving these overloaded vehicles have a problem & end up causing a massive traffic jam when they blow a tire, or burn out their engines.
