Not wrong on this:
The lid takes up practically the entire top. I am not talking about just from side to side, but also front to back. Yes, he BD lids took up as much space from side to side, but they did not take up as much from the front of the machine to the console. That is what I was referring to. I've seen plenty of both versions to know the difference. This washer, as well as the one that Pulsator posted was issued concurrently with BD washers during the early to mid 80s, as the DD machines were being gradually phased in. At the time it was only the 24 inch space savers that were DDs while the 29 inch full sized washers were still BDs. This should explain why both washers above have the center dial console; as that style lasted until 1986 when the DD design took over the Sears inventory, and the newer style consoles emerged. The one my sister has is just like the two pictured above, complete with the 180 OPM short agitation stroke. I must admit I was thrown a bit when I first saw it; scratching my head trying to figure out the model year for it.
