Stepped filter pan...

was developed as a detergent dispensing feature. it was used in machines that had prewashes and such. I understand that on earlier machines (pre-dispensall) there was also a gadget that sat on top of the agitator/ff pan that dispensed detergent after the prewash spin. the fab softner was dispensed by a timed dispenser like the timed bleach dispenser. they used them for a couple of years then they went to the larger "super filter flo" pan w/o the stepped dish.

here is a pic of my other machine w/o the indented centre - though i like the dish with the indent much better.

very nice machines.

was the mechanism still "suspended" by cables in these machines or was a different suspension system in use by then. One last question did these have the speed selector that could be damaged if you changed speeds with it running, or at this TOL level did ge throw in the true 2 speed motors? fascinating, and they are. Hope you have lots of fun with these, alr2903, arthur.
