Possible...

Heck, anything's possible- we have a few notable instances of MIB finds here in this group.

It's also possible that someone is mistaking something cleaner and less abused than average for something unused. One of the banes of my eBay existence is people overstating the condition and/or cleanliness of an item. It bugged me mightily for some time, but one day I realised: some people just don't SEE the difference. My housemate is one of those people- as long as a car hasn't been in a four-car pileup, he thinks it looks fine. I like 'em looking like new. He thinks it's fine to leave the Sunday paper scattered all over a freshly vacuumed and polished living room. I don't. He does not SEE what I do, and it took me the longest time to figure that out.

I bought a vintage double boiler on eBay last week, described as "very clean". It arrived in a state of near-sepsis. It is, however, very clean NOW. Mommie Dearest clean, in fact. No, beyond that- Launderess clean, LOL.

If I were interested in such a range, I'd have a lot of questions to ask that seller, including what makes them figure it's unused.

But I Find

This part of the auction VERY suspicious:

ALL payments must be paid in full within 24 HOURS or item will be re-listed and you will be billed administration fees of $50.00.

Something just doesn't seem right with this one... Remember, is someone demands payment immediately, it's usually a scam!

True, It makes you wonder what is up

Once in a while you get lucky. i was once at place here in Portland where they have alot of unusualy stuff, Appliance city. I saw a Bendix washer, 1939 model that worked beautifully except for the very old rubber hoses, and a 1939 Frigidaire Fridge, exacty like the one that my Grandparents had in their basement. Both of these units were in great shape, as they would be in storage all ot this time. Maybe this is like unto that, if it is for real. It is really neat, although the last time administrative was mentioned in a sentence over my ears, it usually ment Principal, and well, that was not a good, and maybe the 50 bucks represents detenton for not paying him in 24 hrs. The old addage, if it looks to good to be true, it probibly is. and to me, this looks to good to be true.

We will have to watch this auction to see how it ends up.
While that is a nice stove, it is realitively hard to believe that it has never been used.
Why would the seller need payment in 24 hours? Most Ebay sellers give you 3-10 days to pay. Why the rush? Maybe it's another hijacked account?
I'm going to e-mail the seller and ask why the rush?

Maybe I am being too suspicious here.... we'll see.

Well, an understandable response...

Here is how the seller responded to my inquiry about the 24 hour payment required....

Hello, I said 24 hours to try to discourage Deadbeat Bidders. Money Orders or Checks are fine, I just don't want to have to wait 2 weeks to find out I have to Relist it Again thats all, I will work with any Bidder, I just need to feel confident that the winning bidder will go through with the transaction as I just got Burnt on another Item, the Winning Bidder Stalled for 3 weeks than changed his mind. Give me a call Chef XXX-XXX-XXXX.

So this could be very legitimate, just a burned out seller, that's all (hopefully!).
