Have gone and found the episode of D&M that you mention.

Cant tell, whether the machines that he is sat on are washers or dryers (dark monitor syndrome + plus it's bright outside), but yep there are at least two 7148/7168's in there and a Creda slanted facia machine.

OMG! The 7129!

Never knew what the model number is but this is the one my Mum had in the 1980's, bought from Rumbelows (remember them?) She LOVED the machine and always wanted a Bendix Laundry Centre but compromised due to the configuration of the kitchen at the time. This is the first time I have ever seen a picture of the 7129 apart from old family pics taken in the kitchen back almost 30 years ago. Delighted to see it again!! Even after two other automatics she still referred to the Bendix programme names even though the other machines were obviously different. She knew what she meant ;-)

Really pleased that this thread has been of use and provided a wee bit of nostalgia.

I, like you, knew of this machine, but never knew what the model number was.

Certainly, no one i knew owned this version of bendix - they always had the 7147 (Mr & Mrs Peirson had a 7147 and you always went into their house through the side door straight into the kitchen - walked straight past it!).

Rumbelows you say - could this machine have been an exclusive?

I have only ever seen a black and white smaller line drawing of the 7129 - did it have a plain white door, rather than the grey coloured door of the 7147?

Hi Paul

It was a very sleek looking machine and built like a tank from what i remember. The door was white with a very solid clunk when it shut. The trim was almost piano black and the facia a matt silver. As is obvious, it simply had one dial, a power on light and no options at all, which suited Mum as she was not terribly good with technology. The back had a steam vent in it so when you did a boil wash, programme C was 95 degrees, the steam used to come out the vent and fill the kitchen with the most wonderful 'Persily' smells! The thick glass door has the sloped profile to push the washing back into the drum. Great memories. they don't make them like that anymore. In my opinion, Bendix were the Rolls Royce of washing machines in the 1970/1980's Thanks for the manual too. Ah! memories!!!!

sorry about the delayed responce.
I have the EDC boxsett. There is an episode where Anne is staying in hospital and Martin decides to clean the house.He overloads the Bendix and it wobbles out into the middle of the kitchen. You get a few good full frontal view's of it in that episode. There's also 3 vacuums in EDC - a Goblin Housemaid, a Hitachi and a Rowenta Wet & Dry.
