WHO CARES!!!!

BERNIE'S, CIRCUIT CITY, TRADER HORN, NEWMARK AND LEWIS, BRICK CHURCH, TOPS APPLIANCE CITY, CRAZY EDDIE, NOBODY BEATS THE WIZ
NEXT WILL BE PC RICHARD & SON, AND AS SURE AS I AM TYPING THIS SEARS WILL SOON FOLLOW.....SHOP AT YOUR LOCAL APPLIANCE STORE, YOU GET PERSONILIZED SERVICE, COMPETITIVE PRICES, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE SALES PEOPLE. The big box stores will continue to come and go, because: 1. High pressure sales people who only rely on consumer reports to sell appliances. 2. Horrible after-sale service. 3. Bullshit expensive extended warranties being shoved down your throat. 4. Do I need to go on?

Sorry for the rant

It's just that if you live in the New York tri-state area..
New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, you go through these closings about every two years on average, and usually this time of year after disappointing holiday sales....I feel badly that people will lose their jobs, but I find that the majority of these employees are poorly trained, and treated badly by their employers, and this is then passed on to the consumer. Again sorry for the rant.

I've been to a Bernie's in CT. Not bad; when you ask the sales help (nicely) to effectively "buzz-off" they do!

Cant stand B/S (blatant salesmanship).

Too bad they are going under. In a way, perhaps this is a testament to the effectiveness of "recyling" of appliances via Craigslist.

Connecticut, land of Jack Welch and other republican a@@wipe

Not at all surprised. Cheap seats can pick up cheap appliances at at any Lowes or Home Depot. I love going into Best Buy, but their Major Appliance salespeople are pretty clueless. And a lot of "small stores" don't follow through on after-purchase service any better than the big chains as they've already joined buying clubs. You have to look hard here in Connecticut to find a store that's still owned and operated by people not an organization. I buy from Page's in Guilford, Goody's in East Haven, and Mudrick's in Stratford, but they're all under tremendous pressure from the chains. There's a wonderful store in East Norwalk that is a Miele dealer in the area and sells Persil products. If you want to know ask me and I'll have remembered the name by then.

Atlantic Appliance

2 locations in Northern Westchester County NY.
Excellent, sales, service, selection, price, and after-sale service, plus they sell Speed Queen, and deliver to the tri-state area.

I have always had good experiences with County TV.Appliance in Stamford. Good, personal service and very fair pricing There are other locals as well. Aitoro's in Norwalk is very high end and while they sell all major brands, their pricing is always on the high side. Marsillio's in Fairfield has been around a long time, but again their pricing is consistently high and they don't deal well. They are used to being the only game in town for a long time. I like the folks at Mudrick's and have purchased from them.
There is a real "local" in Huntington, Ted's Appliances, that is the only Speed Queen dealer around and Ted is a nice guy. Does all his own service too.

Lew White

Lew White Appliances in Brookfield CT is great- they stock parts and repair as well. Been using them for years. Buzaid/Mutal in Danbury is decent as well, and they have a scratch and dent outlet in Brookfield. Not sad to see Bernie's going- I hear they're pushy there, and a friend of a friend said they were horrible to work for- she walked out!
