Best new dishwasher

What do yall think is the best dishwasher for under $600?

Our Asko has been recalled for catching on fire (It is a 1585), and it seems that the recall program is no longer listed on their website.

A stainless steel interior would be nice, but is not mandatory.

Bosch Evolution 500 series

Bosch now offers the Ascenta line with a tub that is steel on the top and sides but plastic on the bottom....not sure of the reliability or potential for seam failures.

But the Evolution series 500 models, with full stainless tub, start at under $600. And the 300 series entry level models are $578. Amazing value for under $600. Even the basic Bosches are very quiet, I think the 300 and 500 series are about 52 dB.

Check your water district or energy company to see if you get a rebate....from what I recall, our gas or electric utility gave a rebate for the 500 but not the 300, evidently the 500 was more energy efficient or something. But given that they are priced 20 dollars apart, it pays to check for rebates, particularly if the 500 gets a rebate and the 300 does not, since the rebate would compensate for the price difference.

They're goood. AndrewInOrlando never rinsed anything when he had his and everything came out great. I've never had a chance to BobLoad a GE TallTub so I can't speak from experience.

I heavily load my GE TT regularly and the results are perfect 99% of the time. there's sometimes that one bowl or pot that doesn't get totally clean. Usually it's the burned on pots and pans. it's hard to scrub heavily used stainless cookware in the dishwasher.
we have quite hard water too so that might add insult to injury.

Our pots and pans cycle is pretty quick at about 90 minutes.

overall i've been extremely pleased with every GE TT i've come across.

usually when they don't wash well (as long as the machine itself is functioning) it's user error in loading.

IMOP,the GE GLD6700 is amung,if not thee very best dishwasher I have seen in decades!I had one when I lived in Orlando and had many dinner parties where I would load all of the prep utensils and cookware with no pre rinsing.Run it on pots n pans cycle.Then empty and put all of that away leaving an all ready dishwasher for the dinnerware and serving pieces.Everything fit like a glove and came out (WITHOUT ANY PRE RINSING!)using the sani cycle,sparkling/squeaky clean!!!I always load my silverware handles up and seperate them together so I can grab and put away.The forks,knives,spoons and spatulas all came out clean. Ready to put away.The price was $449 but it was a dented unit at work so I got it for $99!!However,it is well worth $449!

I still really like ye olde basic, boring WP two-door (non tall-tub) with the Powerclean module under any of its badges.

My GE Triton (non tall-tub) also cleaned well and had deep upper and lower racks. It's a bit of a water-hog. I LIKE THAT!

I do prefer the flatware/silverware/tableware holder either on the door on on the side of the racks, but not in middle of the rack (near the door). This way the boot mrack fits four large pots and the upper one more as well.

I do like the G.E. they are very easy to modify and they clean good but the Whirlpool Powerclean is my Pick for one reason.The holes to the pump are big so when I dump everything in it and yes I have even dumped full plates of food in it and when done everything is spotless.The G.E. has a 1/8th H.p. motor and the Whirlpool has 1/3H.P. there is no drain pump in the W.P..Make sure its a Powerclean not Durawash they have a 1/16th H.p. motor and No grinder no nothing and wash terrible.The G.E. though is quiter

We looked at HD today and they had the GE GLD6760, which is a 6700 in SS. Looks like a nice machine. We can pick it up for $539.00. We weren't going to go for SS in the kitchen, but changed our mind. I hope SS is here for the long run....

How quiet is the GLD6700 when it is running?

We have the GSD6200 in my townhouse now. It's the least insulated of the direct feed wash machines. It's not what I would call "noisy" but it's not silent either. There's a soft motor hum and gentle swirling sounds of water. if you load the front of the bottom rack up, you won't hear the slightest drumming of the wash arm, which is not loud at all anyway.

Unless you're super sensitive, I doubt you'll find these machines intrusive.

For reference, our machine has QUIETPOWER II.
My parents have QUIETPOWER IV, and that' machine's a bit quieter than mine. They're all pretty close though. These aren't loud machines like the GEs of yesteryear.

The Kenmore that just died is basically a GE machine. When it runs or should I now say ran, it will wake the dead. I have never heard a noisier machine in my life!
Our bedroom is on opposite side of the house from the kitchen, so even if it is moderately noisy, we won't hear it.

We just replaced our old maytag which almost burnt down my house with a Whirlpool Silent Partner I. Very impressed with the machine. Very quiet running and does an excellent job in about 90 minutes. Interesting how it pulses. It runs for a few minutes then pauses for about 30 seconds then continues like this for most of the cyle. Final wash and rinse there is no pulsing that I remember. Uses very little water and detergent. It was on sale at Sears essentials. Got a great deal on it. Ended up under $300.00. Was origally priced at $539.00
