Best portable dishwasher

I've done some research, etc. as I begin looking for a new portable dishwasher for my house. My kitchen does not really have room for a built in, fyi. I know the model selection is limited for a portable, but I figured I'd get yinzes' (western PA's version of the South's "ya'll") opinion.

What do you ladies and gents recommend?

I've been very pleased

with my GE Nautilus portable.

However, there aren't a lot of new portables out there anymore. I think there are just three/four labels offered....to the best of my knowledge, GE, Maytag, Whirlpool, and Kenmore, and last I knew, Sears offered all of them.

I had a Whirlpool in Baltimore that did a great job with no pre rinsing.It had the silverware basket on the door and lasted fifteen years.It is not the tall tub type.It ran about $399 at Lowes.

I was going to recommend the Kenmore 17702, which we bought last year and have been very happy with, but this model no longer appears on Sears' website. In fact I can't seem to find half the brands/models we saw on their site last year, when we were shopping for a portable d/w.

I had a Kenmore 2003-2005 which worked GREAT! I'm not a pre-rinsing kinda guy. I just throw it all in. I liked the rack design and the silverware basket. Easy to use. No complaints. I sold it in 2005 because I moved to an apartment that had a built in DW.

Here is the modern version of what Spankomatic has posted. This current version no longer has the sani-rinse option, which was a featuree up until this version just introduc ed in the last couple of months. This is pretty much the equivalent of the comparable Whirlpool now. It used to have differentiators of Nylon Racks, Sani-Rinse option, and adjustable height top rack--all gone now. and it's more expensive than ever!!! Go figure.

Jeff, the Kenmore is essentially an identical machine to the Whirly!!

My Maytag portable does very well.

Had his hose extended, (operated myself) and much less than hundreds of dollars per inch!

Awww.. isn't that cute. I have the same dishwasher as Toggs.! Oddly though, the upper basket on mine has the deeper part on the left, not the right. I got mine used off of Craigslist, and it was only $200. Chris, you might want to look there, seems like portables are always popping up .

Spank that was the best dishwasher I've ever had! I replaced it in 06 with the one that Toggle has. My sister still has the Kenmore so at least I get to use it occasionally.

I have the Whirlpool 940 essensially the same as the Kenmore above, it cleans great, they only drawback is that it is not a tall tub, so some of my large dinnerplates are a tight fit. The normal wash is 1 wash a very quick purge rinse followed by a long rinse. I usually us the heavy cycle, which has a prewash followed by the main wash a purge rinse and the long rinse. The Sani rinses on this model are automatic and cannot be shut off. Pots and pans is about a 2 1/2 hour cycle.

Jakeseacrest = I too really liked the Kenmore. It was the closest thing to a Kitchenaid KDS-18 that I could find on the market at the time. I have used the Maytag you and Togg's has now and did not like it as well. The cleaning was great but I did not care for the rack design. I really like to have the siverware basket run along the front or side (just my preference). On the Maytag I would use light wash,sani rinse,dry and it would take about 2 hours. My Kenmore would take just over 1 hour for the same cycle selection. Both did a great job cleaning.

I replaced that Maytag with a KDC60A about 2 years after I bought it. I wasn't used to having 2+hour cycles.
