Major stories from Australia 2006
Shane,
Here were some of the major new stories from down under last year, again not necessarily in order,
1.Beaconsfield miners rescued-2 miners trapped underground for many days in Tasmania finall rescued when it looked hopeless.
2.Sophie Delezio-a beautiful little 5 year old girl who suffered terrible burns 3 years ago when a car crashed into the childcare centre she was in, was again the victim of horrible circumstances when an elderly driver of a car hit her last year at a pedestrian crossing, and yet again she survived against all odds.
3.Cyclone Larry-North Queensland ws devastated when tropical cyclone Larry hit that area last year causing monumental damage and destroying most of Australia's banana crops.
4.Sheik Hilaly-The leader of Australia's Muslim community caused an absolute uproar ,when he claimed young Australian girls who wear bikinis and short skirts and shorts etc, deserve to be raped by men as they are just tempting the guys with the way they dress.
5.Kevin Rudd-Mr. Rudd is Australia's new Opposition Leader beating the former leader,Kim Beazley in a party ballot, the day was especially sad for poor Mr. Beazley, as on the day he was dumped he learned that his mentally disabled brother died of a massive heart attack
Let's hope 2007 brings some happier news for all of us.
Cheers.
Steve.
