Does anyone remember the Black & Decker model 8035 twin-blade rear-bag electric mower? There was also a cordless battery version called the 8055.

What was unique about both these machines in that there were not only twin blades but twin motors, one for each blade. For example, if the 8035 had a 10-amp motor rating then in reality that would be two 5-amp motors. These two motors spin their 9.5" long blades at 7000 RPM, in unison.

Maintenance, though, may be a problem if one of the two motors goes bad.

Whereas the corded model has the standard toggle on/off switch, the cordless model has a trigger motor switch that foreshadows what would be required on all Black & Decker electric mowers made on June 30, 1982 or later.

That is a very cool looking mower.

I can't get over they had the cordless version back then!  Wonder how the rechargeable batteries held up compared to what is offered now?

Black and Decker made really cool stuff back then.

They sure did, but as with all of B&D's cordless mowers the 8055 had problems. The battery tended to leak when in storage. However, the later CMM1000 had a different problem in that the safety key could activate the motor when removed.

YES,used to have one of those-the plug in model. In mine-a motor did die and I junked it.While it worked-the mower did pretty well.If you want a new version of this--Go to Lowes and get a Greenworks 20" twin blade-twin motor or the Kobalt Lowes store brand model. They are 40V-they work well-have the Greenworks one.It is just like the B&D of old.Mine is updated-uses a Lithium battery. The thing is pretty powerful-more so than the old B&D one.The blade arrangement in these is just like some hydraulic or shaft drive twin blade pull behind mowers for tractors.Has right hand and left hand blades.

That is an impressive looking mower Kevin. Looks like it means business!  Is this yours?

I need to check them out at Lowes.

The Greenworks mower shown is like mine. This is as close to that B&D mower you are going to find today.I remember a badly corroded Toro cordless mower at the dump that used the two car batteries.Around my way that is the fate for older mowers as well as appliances like washers.I live in the land of RUST&CORROSION!The dump mower was in really bad shape-deck almost corroded away-motor corroded as well.Shaft didn't turn.

The Lowes my way-both of them stock the Kobalt version of this mower-Its dark blue in color-the batteries have different sockets-otherwise the same. The blades and motors aare the same-even bought "Kobalt" blades as spares for my Greenwork-fit perfectly.
