Blackstone 150 Arrives

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hooray

I can't wait. All my life I've wanted to see a Blackstone working. What is the agitation like? How quick the stroke? How wide the arc? You're blessed, Man!

Maybe the guy we threw in the Easy can take a ride in the Blackstone too--hardy har har, Jackie Gleason.

Hi Mike,

The Blackstone is a VERY FUN machine to watch and the action and turnover are quite good!!! When Roger's Blackstone 350 was washing in Tucson, he & I both agreed that it had a 180-degree arc, though it was hard to tell the exact number of strokes per minute. It has a surprisingly fast stroke; MUCH faster than I originally thought. Reminds me of a solid-tub Speed Queen, but probably faster than that even. You can see an agitation picture in the picture thread.

The neutral drain is very Kenmore-like though not nearly as slow, and I like how the tub bounces back like a Frigidaire and then locks into place after spin.

Psychotoploader ;-) - a NIB Petticoat is on the way! Too bad there was no lint filter until the later Blackstones, it would be a very cool thing to imagine though - you gotta love the Petticoat engineering, just think of what they could do with a lint filter! Good thing I'll have a petticoat since it seems I need to burn my jockstrap...

Ben, the Liberator range will replace the Maytag, it's going to look like hell in my kitchen (being pank and all) but we'll recitify that this Fall.

Mike, I'm not sure about the timer dial, I think it's run through the flexible connector/pipe but there were a lot of differences between the original Blackstone design (as this 150 is) and the later 250, 350 & up when they changed the entire mechanism as well as the timer indicator linkage. This has far more cast iron components and weighs a TON! The entire mechanism is supported by those rubber mounting cushions. Even after so many years of not running, it was nearly silent! I can't wait to wash in it.

Greg,
This is awesome!
I had no idea that you were getting a Blackstone!
I am sure your driver asked you what in the world is in this crate when he saw how heavy it was!
I am sure that this will bring loads of fun!
Thanks for the pictures.

Yay, the Blackstone and my first peek at the new range. The Blackstone washers are just so interesting.
