Seeing that thing as a counter built-in, the round lid in the counter, could have been the one I saw in a house my parents were looking at waaaay back when I was around 8 y.o. so 1964 ish. . I was quite fascinated by it and I've never seen another built in the counter looking thing like that since.

Thanks, Dave. That's the one I was thinking of. Since they operate on similar principles, one would wonder who came out with their's first and if there might have been any patent issues...

I doubt there's any realistic chance that thing would scour away the tough stuff considering many modern dw's have a tough time.. then of course back when that thing was "new" not sure if the dw detergents at the time were as effective.

Dave is correct. I have a 1947? Kaiser Drop in, very similar to this Blanchard Dishwasher. I also have a 1948? Kaiser Electric Sink/Dishwasher. I also have a 1948 Cameron counter-top dishwasher. And I have an early 1970s Carocelle Portable Dishwasher. All of these operate solely by water pressure.

I have arranged to buy this Blanchard Dishwasher.
